I get the 'I only have knives that I will carry and use' crowd... but for the rest of us... those who buy knives for various reasons and don't carry many/most of our knives...

which new Spyderco knife are you thrilled with but you know you will never carry?

Mine is the Subvert! I am a bad-ass carrying this around the house... (I am a rugged-indoors-man) ....but I cannot see a situation where I would have this in my pocket while out on the town... (need a deeeep pocket)

I’ve got an centofante 4 that I’ll probably never use. I’ve got a 3 that I use the hell out of. I just can’t bring myself to use the 4. Weird, I know but it took me a while to find one new plus I enjoy just admiring the damn thing

I love all the Spydies I have (mainly Military and PM2 sprints/exclusives in the range of $130-$240) and I won't hesitate to carry and use any of them. But then I have too many of them so some have not gotten the chance of being carried/used :p

I don't use or carry my tuff or breeden rescue. (Though I have carried and used the rescue briefly)

Pretty much everything else is in the rotation. Even the 2018 forum knife.

I'll never carry it but the Subvert is cool. A few people are saying it's not worth more than 180 and I think they are straight up haters and ignorant. I got mine from a raffle, I would not have got one otherwise. Not that it's not worth it, but it's just not a edc knife.

Nick Shabazz did a great review on it. It's more of a collectors knife and fans of the designer. Action on it is great and is a fidgeter... Though it will guillotine you fingers off if your not careful.

I have a PITS that I love, but I’ve never carried. I’ve got plenty of other knives that I love as well, so it’s hard for me to mentally justify dorking up the scales.

A knife that LOVE that I will probably NEVER carry? Quite a few actually but too many to list here.

Among the reasons why I would never carry them is that they are either: 1) too expensive or too rare/collectible, 2) too big or too small, 3) will show wear too easily if carried, 4) impractical to carry as an EDC (certain SD knives, for example) and/or 5) illegal to carry where I live (automatics & balisongs, for example).

Probably the Tighe Stick. I bought it on close-out. It's a cool design and very well made. I never carry tip-down and it's not a very practical design anyway.

I've carried every Spyderco I've ever owned. I really like my Dodos and they are probably my least carried, but they do get carried.

well, I'm in the minority... but the issue with me is that I would never bring the Subvert out for use in public... neither would I carry the Espada XL in public... I love the design of the Subvert... but it is an 'in-house' carry at best...

I like big folders so I'd buy and carry a Subvert if it didn't have orange scales.

Please don't tell me that I can Ritz dye them. I know that but I'm NOT just going to do that to a $300 knife. I'm also not going to pay an extra $100 (or whatever) for custom scales more to my liking (if such things are ever made). If it's not the way I like the way it comes from the maker, I'm just not going to buy it.

However, I will buy one if they ever come out w/a sprint version using black G10 or CF scales which is my preference. A full Ti model would also be of interest to me but it would probably make the knife way more expensive than it already is, which again would not be to my liking.

Nah, I carry my K2 300+ days a year and rotate the remaining between my Nirvana, Southard, and Yojimbo 2.
Everything thing gets carried, everything gets used, some don’t get abused though.

I just bought a Matriarch 2 today. The first thing I did was slice a water bottle in half with a single stroke  But honestly this knife is a little odd for me lol. I think I might keep it in my car as a emergency seat belt cutting knife. But then again who knows, it might grow on me over the next couple of days and I'll use it more often.

. . . which new Spyderco knife are you thrilled with but you know you will never carry?

Newly released or just new to me?

The Amalgam, Tropen and Smock are all "newly released" knives that I have purchased. I "love" and have already carried all of them.

As for "new to me," the ones that love but will not carry are all vintage or discontinued knives that I simply do not want to deface or damage in any way, including but not limited to a pair of vintage LW FRN scaled Wayne Goddards that are too rare and difficult to replace to carry; a Szabo and a Tantanka that are simply way too big to carry; a Hungarian, Bowie and vintage Persian which all have bolsters that are way too easy to scratch when carried; and a De Leeuw Friction Folder which has to be carried in a belt pouch that is unused and that I want to keep that way.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't carry the Sub-hilt Vallotton D/A Auto that I love too; just too expensive, rare and nice to carry. Besides, it's illegal to carry where I live too. ;)
