Would it be bad form to ask you about your favorite online Buck Knives sellers?

So far I've spread my Buck Buying across a few places. As for retail stores, I've gotten a Mantis from R.E.I, and a Rush from Walmart. Selection at both stores is pretty limited and both sold at retail price. For online buying I've gotten a pair of Alpha's from Cabelas and about 10 others from eBay.

Could you share who you'd recommend to buy from and who to stay away from?

Also, does Buck offer a printed catalog? I see they have a pretty decent website, but if a catalog exists, I'd like to get one.

Thanks,

-Mike

Walmart has the 110 for $32. One Stop Knife Shop has good prices. Sometimes, Smokey Mountain Knife Works has Buck models inexpensely.
good luck

Mike,
Please send me your snail mail address and I will send you a Buck Consumer catalog plus info about the Buck Collectors Club. As a BCC member, you can get many great deals and a fine newsletter. I will also send you a sample newsletter.

Mike,

I do all of my online knife purchases from KnifeCenter.com. No complaints so far. I'm on my fourth order.

I've purchased all of my Bucks locally or not online, at least. The one and only one I tried to order online was a Buck/Mayo Northshore from Knifecenter and it got seized along with a BM Mini-Grip  I would probably use Knifezone up here - I've asked Pauline about a couple and she can get Bucks. I've also ordered more than few blades from knifecenter and have never had a problem with them, but then this seizure wasn't about them :) Two that I'm eyeing for the future are the new Dorado, and the 55 :D

I have to put a plug in for New Graham Knives.

I know Mike and his is a great guy.

The people treat you with kindness and are very well versed on the stuff they sell

Their prices are great too!!!

I concur with the esteemed Mr. Mayo. New Graham Knives is the very best. Great people, amazing inventory, prompt shipping. My first call always.

I have ordered from Knivesplus a couple of times, not online actually, but you can. They've always been very polite and have good prices.

Mike Z, where do you live?? I havent personally seen a Walmart that charges retail on any thing in the knife case. Dont scare me !! I shop quite a bit at Wallys and they sometimes carry knives that other dealers dont carry because of price.

Guy, you're absolutely right. I live in the Chicago area by the way. I was mistaken. At the time I purchased both knifes, I wasn't very familiar with either and I was wrong about the list price. At Walmart, I paid $45.92 for a Rush that retails for $73 and at REI I paid $29.95 for a Mantis that retails for $34. For some reason, I had thought the Mantis retail was $29.95 when I purchased it at REI.

I'll tell ya, the Mantis has turned out to be quite a nice EDC. Not the sharpest blade I've ever had out of the box, but for my typical light general use, it's been great.

Ok ,my hearts beating again!! Aw, once in a while a knife may not come out as sharp as we like. Thats what keeps the Sharpener makers in business.LOL

Gordonk,

The 55 is now available at most Canadian Walmarts, they recently updated their knife display. I think the price comes in right around $40.

Stu - many thx. I found this out this weekend when I dropped by :) What surprised me even more, was that there was someone behind the counter  They were out of stock, though. There's a Wal-Mark across the street where I work, so later this week..... It was just as well, sort of. I picked up a Spydie Meerkat (my second one), and a Pride at one place, and then took delivery of a Spyderco Centofante III/Dragonfly and Bryd Meadowlark via the Post Office. Week or so ago, I acquired a Buck/Strider 887SBT Police Advocate. Getting waaaaayy overboard the last little while :) Would also be great to see a Dorado locally as well. That one, I would actually like to pick it up and play before getting, if possible. I'm also hoping to acquire a Northshore in the next couple of months.
