Favorite other brands of blades?

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this forum, been trying to buy my last knife for the last 15 years. They just keep coming out with new designs, or my tastes change. I currently own the BK9, BK11, and the Remora. I have been eye balling the BK2. Three or four years ago I looked at the BK2 and I thought who would ever want that "sharpened prybar"? Well after using my BK9, I now have the taste in my mouth for the BK2. I am a member of BushcraftUSA, and really like that forum. This Becker section of blade forums I am enjoying very much so, also.

So anyway, the reason for this thread....What are your other favorite brands of blades besides the lovely BK&T.

I would say mine are the Victorinox and the Leatherman Multitools. I searched thru the Becker threads and did not see any posts like this. I'm interested in what the Becker fans favorite "other" blades are?? I also really like the Moras for the unreal value for the low cash they cost. I even saw an interview where Ethan Becker said he had a soft spot fot the Mora knives. I own quite a selection of knives and those are a few of my favorite. And I am really liking the Beckers!!!!!!!

I hope this is not a tacky question, like going into a Harley Davidson factory and asking if they weren't riding Harleys, what else would they ride.

Thanks Ross,

If I'm not using my Becker knives then I have a Esee in my hand, both are my go to knives and I put more trust in them then any other knife I have ever used.....

The NEW digital Huntsmen is in my front right pocket right now. What else does that knife need? Maybe one more blade like the BK2!!!

Ross,

Swamprat, Scrapyard, Mora and several others.

I love me some Benchmades and Leatherman Multi-Tools, Victorinox is pretty high up on the list as well

I really like Case lately. I'm also a fan of the rest of KA-BAR's knives other than BK&T.

Other than Beckers ????!!! Sacrilege ! Blasphemy ! (LOL)

Just like most Harley folks tend to like Triumphs, BSA, Nortons, etc. ... We appreciate other good knives. ESEE and Becker crowd usually run with each other.

I carry a Buck Vantage Pro as an EDC folder. Alternate with a Kershaw Cyclone.
Always a little SAK.

Can't bBeat Mora's for the money. Use the crap out of mine.

Scrapyard is up there. My next knife is a BK 7. After that maybe Ratmandu.

Not a big fan of Cold Steel, but I have a Recon Scout (SK5) that a beast of a knife.
Bigger version of BK2 (5/16 thick, 7" blade)

Can't bring myself to spend the $ on a Busse though. Nice stuff, don't get me wrong.

I'm never without a Victorinox of some sort, I really dig my SOG Powerlock multi' as well. Other favorite knives are ESEE. The two knives that I really love are my Bush Operator and Pocket Kilo (daily beater) from Fletcher Knives. All good stuff.

Beckers first, then ESEE runs a pretty close second for production fixed blades. Spyderco is my go-to folder. But more and more, I've been getting into smaller blade makers. I've got blades from Bill Akers, David Farmer, Josiah Gravelle, and I'm seriously looking into Mark Wohlend and John Landi as well. Lovin' those small batch blades...

As far as user and useful and carry knives go: Becker by far No.1 followed by Spyderco, ZT, ESEE and Buck.

If i could'nt carry a Becker, then for me it would be Ontario Knife Company Ranger RD series for a fixed blade. We don't have a Becker Folder option---yet, so mine is a CS Recon 1. I even had a hard time spending $150 for OKC Ranger Signature Series 3/8" thick RD-6, but i am VERY happy with it.

Before I discovered the Becker line up I was really into the Cold Steel blades. I still have two left; a tilite folder, and a Hunter plus. Both are quality knives IMO. The hunter is carbonv and the tilite is AUS8. Since it is hard to find a quality Cold Steel any more I would have to say that ESEE are probably second in line from Beckers for me, but since I'm relatively to actual quality knives I really can't think of any others that I'd want to carry.

Aside from Beckers, I'm often carrying a Victorinox. A Farmer complements my Eskabar for EDC, and a Swisstool rides in my pack. Since getting the BK11 and BK14, I no longer carry "non-sak folders".

KaBar, CRKT, Cold Steel, Benchmade, Buck, Mora, and one of my new favs, Condor. Lots of others too!
