I know it is off topic, but the discussion about photography got me wondering.

Mine are: Art Wolfe, Ansel Adams, Eva McDermott for starters.

Who is your favorite and what picture stands out?

All the Playboy photographers :)... I don't know who they are but I like photography. I was going to try to get into it but I don't have a good eye for detail. I enjoy any good picture especially the simple ones that have alot of details

Darius Kinsey and Diane Arbus. Kinsey photographed the the lumber camps in the Washington state area at the turn of the century before the giant cedars and other trees were all cut down and gone forever. Diane Arbus photographed people on the street in New York in the early 60's. I was lucky enough to see an exhibit of her work at the Victoria & Albert museum several years back.

Almost forgot, My wife is my favorite photographer. An example of her work is my avator picture. She works with old cameras a lot.

David,
Wow - thanks for mentioning Darius Kinsey. I can't believe I never heard of him...fine shots of a different time. I've a friend or two whose parents or grandparents worked in those camps and it'll be fun to share some of Kinsey's images with them.

My favorite from the PacificNW is Ray Atkeson - especially his B&W photos of the lodge up on Mt. Hood or just about anything he did in B&W.

And of course, from since I was young, Helmut Newton! I was fascinated by his subject(s) years before I realized how good he was...but then, as I said, I was young when I first saw his stuff.

Cheers,
Steve

Mr. C: Great thread but it just doesn't belong here. The other thread drifted into photography due to outdoor subjects which is ok. I hope you don't get upset with me but I'm going to close this one. Now, if someone wants to post up photos of some of their outdoor photography when it comes to survival, remote travel, hunting, camping, etc., then I'm all in ;)
