I was wandering what was some of the websites that people like to primarily get their knife making supplies at. What has the best deals or variety of materials? Looking for steel, handle material, handle fasteners, basic hand tools.....

I just finished ordering from several of my favorite places:

For belts, micarta, and the absolute best prices on corby bolts: popsknifesupplies.com
For Kydex: Knifekits.com
For G10 and micarta: alphaknifesupply.com (their G10 supply is currently low but always comes back)
For Steel: Aldo at njstelbaron.com
For Rhynowet wet/dry sandpaper: supergrit.com
For just about everything else (although usually higher): usaknifemaker.com

Thanks that helps out a lot, looks like I will be making some orders so I can have something to work on next week.

I agree with Jason on the above suppliers. Also add ENCO for tooling. Drills, reamers, end mills, precision tools.

I also agree with Jason, but note that Pops only has stainless corby bolts (and I use almost nothing but copper).

That's the way it is, no one has everything- you will pay more for shipping.

I like the Knife kits website, it's well organized with a good hierarchy of categories.
-Knifemaker USA - hard for me to find things. It seems that thing are not well categorized, things pop up where you never expect them.

I like True Grit for belts and USA Knifemakers for just about everything else, except steel. I get that from NJ Steelbaron.

I spend most of my money at:
www.usaknifemaker.com -- really fast, and reasonable, shipping for me; usually the best price on videos
www.supergrit.com
blacksmithsdepot.com -- have the blacksmithing supplies I need, and the prices for the items are fair, but the shipping kills you
Hope it helps

I find the same thing when I use the search engine on USAKnifemaker site. I like them but sometimes its a pain.

I wouldn't forget about Jantz they have a lot to offer and sometimes if you add up shipping from multiple places and just the uncertainty of delivery. You get my drift. I'm in the Northeast and Masecraft has my Micarta and G-10 at my door in one or two days tops. They ship out of Connecticut.

Speaking of ordering supplies...

Now that my disk grinder is up and running I just want to know one thing: Where is the Norax, Cubitron, etc in sheet goods? Even the 3m wet/dry paper only lasts a couple minutes, it seems like. My Norax and Trizact belts go and go and go, but all the sheet paper I've tried goes flat in a heartbeat.

I've certainly heard folks say they grind bevels on them...and grinding bevels means structured ceramics.

Edit: Found some 9 1/8 cubitron II 967 disks on MSC for about five-six bucks

Oh, and Tracy has a bunch of ceramic disks....I was looking for sheets, duh.

Most of the bench equipment I use is store brand, so I usually get belts, discs, and bits from local hardware stores (may not work for you but it works like a dream for me). For quality blade/tool steel, I usually purchase from Aldo (The New Jersey Steel Baron). For forge bodies/replacement hardware, I shop at onlinemetals; a bit pricey but they seem to have a greater selection of of sizes compared to what I've seen elsewhere, and also carry a few tool steels. For the forge lining and insulation, sometimes through high temp tools, other times through bailey pottery.

I buy all of my steel from NJsteelbaron.com (like everyone else). I buy pretty much everything else at texasknife.com. Because I don't buy a huge volume of materials like a lot of people, it's cheaper for me to buy from as few places as possible even if there are better places for certain items.

I would add Jantz for some of their specialty connectors like the micro Corby bolts among other things. Sheffield has good stuff too. The ones that have survived this long are all good in their own way IMO.
