Favorite skinning knife

My Richard J skinner is ridiculously good at it's job. I love this thing.

CS Master Hunter, Carbon V. I've used it on moose, black bear and caribou, in temperatures ranging from 50 F. to -45.

Slaughterers in abattoirs have always used work issue versions of

Curved Skinner 5 3/4 "

I like small knives with 2.5-3 inch blades. I like to have my forefinger on the spine. I find a small sharp blade can clean game much more quickly and accurately than a larger knife. I don't have a favorite but something along the lines of a delica or mini grip works best for me.

Btw, this is coming from a guy who prefers larger knives for most everything.

Having only "hunters" for skinning this is my one and only actual "skinner" knife and since I
just received it end of Oct. I haven't used it on anything yet but I'm pretty sure it'll work OK,:)
anyone that knows me knows I'm partial to John Fitch's JS work.

Oof! I like that a LOT! Love the full curve from heel to tip. I think that knife will do exactly what it was made to do and do it well! Looks like it's not oversized either. How much blade is that Doug?

P.S. Looks like he ground that thing pretty thin behind the edge too?

I've sold the Carles May in the center. I've used the top one, a River Knife by Sean O'Hare(3.5" blade), several times for skinning and dressing deer.

I've used the second one from the top a good bit too. A Dozier Buffalo River Hunter.
I no longer have the third one down. The bottom one is my favorite Dozier(Arkaksas Traveler), but I have yet to use it on game.

Yes sir. As sharp as he claims and his steel holds an edge you wouldn't believe.

BTW, that Fitch is gorgeous.

I have used my Jk Knives Nessmuk twice for black tail deer and it works great, I also have a mini version of it for fine work. I have also used an Emerson CQC8 several times it also works great.
