just out of curiosity: what are your favorite model(s) of spyderco? Do the members of the forum prefer serrated or non? i'm just asking cause i'm new to the forum and i don't know if this came up although i suspect it has. my friend bought a jotsingh khalsa and i liked the feel of it so much that i bought it. has anyone ever reviewed this knife. it seems pretty solid to me with a good liner lock. oh well, just wondering...

A toss-up between the Military and the StarMate. I think (!) that I prefer the StarMate, but I am not quite certain. Of course, they are both plain edged.

Me too! Starmate or Military, although I have been carrying the BF Native almost daily.

I'm going to have to go with the Native. It's the perfect size for daily carry in the city. Not too big and bulky and not too small like those stringent "airline grade" knives. I've got a serrated Native and need the serrations because I'm always cutting rope and cardboard. Personally, I also think the Native is the most beautiful of all the Spyderco knives. Anyone agree? Just my two cents.

Gosh....tough decision as I like a lot of Spydies. I'd say The Starmate and Military (OK so that's two

) Generally I prefer plain and serrated, moving away from my previous choice of the combo edge

Military. I was once a skeptic, now a believer.

Starmate's a fine knife, too, but I think some folks are in the grip of "new knife sydrome" with all this talk of it displacing the Military

I love my serrated Delica. I cut a lot of cardboard at my two jobs, and I find that the serrated edge is better than the straight edge for that task. I plan on picking up a straight edged version soon though for those more mundane chores.

I recently traveled to San Francisco, and another attractive feature of the Delica is that I was able to pass through security checks at both Minneapolis and San Francisco International Airports without any funny looks when I put my knife in the basket before passing through the metal detectors. I don't think I would have been able to do the same thing with my AFCK.

Speaking of the AFCK, I cut cardboard with both the AFCK and my Delica today, and wouldn't you know it, the Delica actually performed better. Damn you Spyderco, I could have spent that money from the AFCK on two more Delicas. It carries lighter, and definately attract less attention and instills less fear than my AFCK. Don't get me wrong, if I anticipated needing a folder for defense (not that I'd bring a knife to a knife fight - I'd bring a rifle, or go to a knife fight at all) I'd definately take the AFCK, but in a politically correct climate like the one I work in, the Delica is better to have handy.

My favorite is the Rescue. A well designed, tough knife.

Call me old school boys, but the infamous Police model is my all time fav Spyderco. Tip down, smooth. and the positioning of the lock keeps it as quick, and comfortable as any liner-lock when closing.

The Starmate. At this monent I'm wearing the part. serrated , but last week my plain-edge arrived and I plan using this one also. (OK. since the day it arrived it travels every day in my bag to the office and back home. Though decission).
Greetings

Hands down the police, all polished with a plain edge. For other work I will admit I really like the civilian, fully serrated (goes without saying).

The older Bob Terzuola C15 and C19.
Absolutely the best Spydies for hard and tough utility duties.

By the way, if someone else (thanks Tom S!!) is willing to part with one of them, please send me an e-mail.

Can't say yet -

My partially serrated Wegner C48 is my long time love, but the Starmate's (also combo edge) working it's magic on me. I still can't bring myself to do anything but lovingly polish my C46 Lum. I would consider it a tribute to Spyderco's design team that I have such a hard time deciding.

Call me crazy, but I love my serrated "Q". My knife of choice is usually of the Butterfly variety, but I always have my "Q" as a back-up. The repositionable clip is great for me, as sometimes I use it for a neck knife, and sometimes I clip it to the adjustment band of my baseball cap. It also travels well. I went through a few Airports, and a cruise terminal un-molested....... what more could you ask for?

C49 Wegner Jr, without a doubt.

Solid and smooth, and a good deal of knife for the money if you get it at discount.

Take off the stainless clip and you get a nice compact minimalist but no-nonsense knife.

Hands down, the C48GP Wegner. Followed up, in no particular order, by the Mariner, G-10 Harpy, Wegner Jr. and Navigator

MILITARY hands down it is the best bang for the buck IMHO.
Have not tried the Starmate but have seen scans of it and though I like it I am a devoted Military Man.

Present daily carry is a Centofante, and I love it,(plain blade, of course). Previous fave was my Police model, which was my daily carry for years.
