Easy question....what's your favorite steel?

And why? on what knife?

Thanks for taking time to vote!

INFI.

On the Busse Fusion Battle Mistress...or maybe the Fusion Steel Heart.

And it's not bad on their smaller knives, either.

Why? Nearly stainless, extremely tough, edge doesn't chip -- just a little rolling when you really beat it, and it's not that tough to sharpen.

Easy question - it's the answer that's not so easy! :)

Picking my favorite steel on a certain knife is pretty much saying it's my favorite knife.
And I've got too many favorite knives.

One steel/knife combo that comes to mind is the 0170-6C on the Becker BK9.
Takes a great edge and holds it well, easy to sharpen, durable.

There are others that come to mind just as easily, though.

Looking forward to seeing the posts in this thread.

O1, it is simple to work with, ease to sharpen, and gains character with use.

1095 or W2

It has nothing to do with performance, for my choices, although both make a fine knife.

I am totally, completely, head-over-heels infatuated with hamon. It keeps me awake at night.

INFI, ST Ripper and Badger Attack. Nearly stainless, sharpens well, keeps an edge well and is nearly indestructible.

I voted for D-2! :D

Its just so hard to beat in a small edc knife (my favorites), although CPM 3V is a close second!!

I voted D-2 and like it on small to medium sized blades. It could be that Dozier manufactures his D-2 Blades as good as anyone though.

O-1. Why? It grinds well, HT is pretty straight-forward, it sharpens well, it's good for most using knives large and small. It has stood the test of time as a very reliable steel. -Matt-

Great comments, guys! Keep 'em coming!

A2 - sharpens up well, holds the edge well, tough. I ljust ike the way it cuts

I use my Bark River Canadian camp knife to clear bush and prep meals. It does everything well.
