Lately I've been spending some time looking at a number of different traditional folding knife designs and really like the looks of a lot of them. I was just wondering if you guys have had experience with some of them and would like to share your thoughts. Personally I'm really drawn to the thin-bladed slicers like the opinel (which I bought while studying abroad and absolutely love), mercator, douk douk, etc. I also think the higonokami has a really cool looking blade, and of the course the laguoiles are just super classy. Let me know what you guys think!

I really enjoy my Chambriard Le Thiers Compact in juniper... excellent thin slicer!

I don't think you can go wrong with these knives that have stood the test of time. I have a Svord Peasant that I really like.

You might want to run a search on these knives searching the Traditional Forum. We have many threads on these knives. You might even want to drop by and chat with us.

I vote for the thin handle and thick blade Douk Douk, more to my liking than the thick handle and thin blade Opinel

I recently had my eyes open to the Laguiole knives. I had seen one or two but not like in this thread

Opinel, Douk Douk, Mercator, Svord Peasant Knives, Aitor Castors...
