I like order... taxonomy... efficiency.
It helps keep things quiet in my head if my tools fill certain roles and are not overly redudant.

What are your favorites OR most-used in the following categories, and which do you actually use the most?

I'm in a 3" max carry state, so #1 gets 90% of my belt time.

1) Small Folder (up to ~3.5"): Boker Hyper [ most used by far ]
2) Full-size Folder (3.5"-4"+): Kershaw JYD-II
3) EDC Small fixed blade (up to ~4"): [slot empty! I like the Izula2, but that's my girl's knife...]
4) Full-size fixed blade (~4"+): BK-2

How about you?

1) EDC folder: Buck Redpoint
2) Small fixed blade: Benchmade Rant drop point
3) Chopper: BK-09

On my person, I have a BK14. In my EDC bag, I have a BK9 and a BK2. I usually carry quite a few knives, some ESEE, FBF, and Cold Steel.

I quit carrying a folder when I got my BK14.

My ESKabar sees the most action. My Spydie Dragonfly second, CS recon 1 third, those are my Urban uses

My ESKabar see the most action, my BK2 second, and my BK9. My BK6 sees some action, but not much, I have other machetes that work with more than it, those are my woodland uses.

In the history of me carrying knives, Gerber Gator II Drop Point got a carried for nearly 7yrs, same one, took more abuse than any other knife I have ever owned. Had to sharpen it twice a day to cut something though, but it was tough and there on my hip. It got replaced with a CS Recon 1 Clip point about 4yrs ago, then a Recon 1 Tanto about a year ago. The day the BK14 was available (CRKS), I bought it, and it has not left my side since. I am actually getting another one today, I think, just becaus I like to have a new one to look at sometimes, my EDC is stripped, wrapped, and patina'd and looks like my knife should look. Nothing like when it was factory new.

Gotta go make a call, get me another ESKabar headed this way.

Moosez, you have an EDC bag with a BK9 and BK2??
Cripes.
I consider it too personal to ask what you do on a daily basis on a public board where we use handles, but you can imagine that I am curious.

I'm a technology specialist for a Fortune 500 company. I travel daily to meet with clients that have installations and service calls on their tech systems. I actually have 2 EDC, one that carries a ton of electronics and gear (laptop, GPS, cables, chargers, troubleshooting equipment, and so on. Then there's BOB.

BOB has been around for about 14yrs now, and has resurected and reincarnated in several different shells. Currently, BOB is a Maxped Condor II, and is is loaded out with, this:

Colt 1911 Series 70, nickle plated 2 mags
BK9, BK2, Gerber Suspension MT, Gerber folding saw
Hammock, poncho, Billy Can (12cm)
Alcohol stove and a container of heat
Romen noodles
Gloves
polypro head over (buff)
TP
3 48" webbing loops
6 Black diamond beeners ranging from snap to locking
a figure 8
Exedrin, my diabetes medicine, an inhaler
a trowel
Platypus 1 liter
Nalgene 1 liter/space saver cup
Maxped Roly Poly
Headlamp
Flashlight
Orange hunters vest
ASK
FAK
75' of paracord
2 Grimloks
Some hand/foot warmers (chem pads)
Aquamira frontier filter
Pace count beads
WS&S patch multicam
a boonie hat, OD
DMT Duofold Fine/Coarse
LMT Spork
4 GG firesteels, 1/4" by 4"
ESEE fire kit with cb's and paracord
and some other stuff

You see, I don't know who, what, when, where or why I may be going to any given day of the week. Some days I am out of state, others I'm in my office, but BOB is always right beside me. BOB is built to get me home or keep me alive, everyday, no matter what. All items in BOB are born of necessity, read, I needed it, so now its in BOB. BOB has helped me out in so many ways over the years, I can stand to think about being without him, at arms reach. It makes things problematic when I have to go work for DOD, DOE, FBI, HLS, even NSA, but he can at least stay in the van when I go to those "behind the closed door" places.

My electronics bag is a work bag and really does have to go with me everywhere, so I have an smal PSK and a BK14 in it (sometimes ESEE3) and my tools of the trade. I'm paranoid, but I know it, so it works in my favor.

Be cool. Moose

PS, anyone on here that has met me in person, has met BOB, just ask them.

My physical location and my office aren't always in the same place.
But when I have to put on clothes and show my face at the office it's NYC.
Fortunately I don't live there (anymore), but my day-to-day work retains the same rugged rating. On a scale of 1-10: 0.75.

Ah so. Well, it keeps me in moccasins working here, but my dream job it to one day open an outdoor adventures guide, training facility with a little outfitters store here locally. Getting to spend my time outdoors, selling gear, and training folks is something I think I would like to do until the Almighty takes me away. It'd be a shame though, 'cause I'd already be in heaven.

my mini-bob sometimes has magazine in it. not the reading kind. unfortunately, the neighboring state is communist and i can't bring evil things like that there. dammit.

need to make a more serious bug out bag. currently i have a bug out closet, and a bug out car ;) i've outfitted more people with the stuff i find in my car on a random basis on trips that people give belief to, even while i'm doing it. funny.

daizee, here goes my three for now:
Folder : Strider model AR
Small Fixed : 11 Bravo by Ray Ennis
Lrg. Fixed : ESEE Junglas and/or Eagle MK II by Ray Ennis
I know, I know, absolutely blasphemy for me to mention Strider & Entrek on a BHIS forum, but this is what I have now, not what I will be using after the first of the year. Ulterior motives are at work, stay tuned for further developments . . .
Apologies to the godfather . . . :)
Be safe.
(#8)

1). Large folder - Spyderco Manix 2
2). Small fixed blade - Izula (EDC's in my Get Home Bag) or Backwoods Custom Knives small hunter (Bill Akers makes some great stuff)
3). Large fixed blade - for hiking/camping/packing - BK7 or BK2 (I usually rotate)

1) Small Folder (up to ~3.5): Case Peanut
2) Full-size Folder (3.5"-4"+): Spyderco Paramilitary (almost 3.5")
3) EDC Small fixed blade (up to ~4"): Busse Game Warden LE
4) Full-size fixed blade (~4"+): Swamp Rat Ratweiler

Those are the ones I use the most right now. By no means, however, does the absence of a Becker above mean that I do not love the Becker line-up. I have quite a few knives in my stable, and I tend to go through cycles with them. Moosez's BK-9 thread has inspired me to get some better pants for my own Combat Utility and start chopping more stuff with it. In the near future, the small fixed blade category will be swapping a lot between the EsKabar, the Izula II, and a Ray Laconico utility/bushcraft. Also, I did preorder one of those fancy HEST folders, so at the beginning of next year most likely, I should have something to try in the full-size folder category. I really don't have a lot of full-size folders aside from some Spydercos (most of them Salt series) and a BM 710.

Small folder: Kershaw Whirlwind
Full size folder: Benchmade 950 Rift
EDC small fixed blade: N/A
Full size fixed blade: Becker BK-9

Those are my personal ones, I don't carry a small fixed blade just because most of the cutting tasks I do daily are far too mundane to justify the extra bulk. Just my circumstances. And in my BOB I'm GOING to have a Becker BK-2 when I get one, but for now I have the Godfather of cheapness, the Gerber Profile. We do need a BOB thread.

Small folder: (work)Spyderco Delica(home)Old Timer Minuteman

Large fixed: BK2 & RD9

Pocket- EDC J.Mitchell Nova
Shoulder bag- Spyderco mil. folder/ S&W Bodyguard/Airweight .38/ Rat 3
Car bag- BK2, Busse BWM CF (subbing for BK9 getting treatment)
