Favourite ESEE Combos

People have touched on this subject from time to time but I don't think there's ever been a dedicated thread for it so I thought I'd throw one out there, sorry if it's been done before.

I like the way ESEE has made their line up of knives. Instead of having a lot of different models that fit the same role they've made knives to fit every role. From the Izula to the Junglas there's pretty much a knife in there to suit everyones needs. (especially with the folders and stainless models in the works)

For those of us that like to carry multiple knives in the woods or wherever really, this comes in handy because you can pair up knives to cover all the bases and be assured of their quality because they're from ESEE.

So, what's your favourite combination of ESEE's to carry? Feel free to explain your reasons, and maybe how you carry them as well. Or if you prefer to carry a knife from another company along with your ESEE you might as well tell us why you chose that combo too.

Mine so far is an ESEE-4 paired with an Izula. The 4 is a great all-around knife but I like to have a knife better suited to detail work with me too so this combo works well for me. This combination might change if I get an Izula II in the future though.

I like to carry my ESEE 3 with an Izula in my pack aka man purse, mainly because of the knife laws in California :thumbdn:. If I was able to, I'd be carrying my ESEE 6 or 5 with an Izula. The Izula became an EDC knife where the ESEE 3 I carry is more EDC/personal protection. I live close to Oakland and a few miles from E14th Street which has aallllllooooootttt of gang activity :barf:

I carry an esee5, hest fixed, and two izulas, (OD green and a safety orange) on a maxpedition Sitka gearslinger. I also carry a gerber muti tool(made in the USA) and a Swiss army knife.

@ inkedshooter... I used to live in Oakland too. You'd better get a gun. To carry with your esee.

I carry either my IZULA or IZULA II on my side for EDC. And my GLOCK 19 on the hip. I have a 3 in the BOB.

Daily pair is a 3MIL in my Get Home Bag and a Kershaw Leek in the pocket.

Most versatile for the woods pair, ESEE-4 and a Lite Machete.

Hopefully soon it would be the LS and an ESEE folder. MY Izula II is holding down the fort quite well, though. Unfortunately, fixed blades have to be carried open here in MD, otherwise the Izula II would make a great EDC.

I carry the Lite Machete & the ESEE3MIL CP as my woods combo
which will change to the lite machete & the Laser Strike ASAP

I keep a ESEE5 and Izula in my Truck

I like to pair my 3 up with any larger blade. I think that is the perfect size to compliment anything from the 4 up.
For a day hike in familiar territory I'd pack the Izzy and 3 but if it was a new spot I'd pack it with the 6 (cause it's brand new).
I went ice fishing Tuesday and paired the 3 with my ASH 1 and my leatherman wave.
My 3 has also become my favorite EDC. It's prefect size for the majority of chores I need it for, it's nice and light and very comfortable to work with.

My favorite combo for the woods is also the ESEE-4 (tan) and Izula. I made a neck sheath for the Izula, but usually carry it using the factory sheath attached via molle to my Maxpedition Jumbo. So the Izula is easily reached for little stuff, and the 4 is either on the belt or in the bag for easy access for wood processing.

For Hiking, going out in the woods the 3 is my standard knife.

For Hiking in Winter, when a campfire is needed i took the 3 and the Junglas with me. Sometimes also a charge TTI

For Hiking in Summer, especially in wilderness areas, i take the 3 and a Leathermen Charge TTI.
I want to use light equipment and the 3 Cover all my needs.

If i look for fatwood in the wood near my home, i take the 3 and a Condor Bolo Machete. The Bolo Chops better than the Junglas and i dont care if i smash it in the ground sometimes. But if i am home and start to baton the fatwood into handy peaces then i use the Junglas.

uh... is this true? i carry my izula every day in a pocket.

Unfortunately, in MD, yes. From my reading, folders of any size are legal concealed and any fixed blade must be carried openly.

I know its posted here on BF, but I am more familiar with my home forum MD Shooters. Here are a couple threads:

It seems like the law is rather convoluted and for me difficult to follow. MY basic understanding is:

Folders can be carried anywhere on the person, concealed or open, closed or in a sheath.
Fixed blades can be carried openly, as long as you aren't intending to use it for violent purposes
Automatics are LE only.
No double edges or daggers.
:jerkit:

Naturally, don't take my advice as solid legal advice.

Well, for me it used to be the 6 and the 3 until the Izula-II came along and stole the 3's spot in my combo. Don't get me wrong I still love and use my 3 alll the time, but my favorite combo as of today is the 6 plus the II

Hunting, backcountry, weekend trips, it's always the same combination.

Izula and a slip joint.

It's embarrassing to admit, but I've owned a 6 for over a year and have never brought it on a trip. Im way more weight conscience than I am knife conscience. Especially if we're going out for any real extended time and moving camp daily.

At work and around the house I use an Izula II, when I go to the mountains I will take my 6.
