Ok what is everyone's favourite multitool when it calms to camping and emergencies? If you your self were going to design a multitool what would you want to put in it? Personally I'd put a dissent blade and a can opener on to my wave. One more question do you ever use your multitool's blade?

Survivor, I think you'll be disappointed with all the multi tools when it
comes to the knife blades. These tools are designed to be tools first and
a knife if you have no other available. As to the can opener it as to serve
two jobs of can & bottle opener which makes it a compromise at both
functions.

The Wave is not, in my opinion, designed as a "Heavy Duty" tool. It's
more of an urban handy do it all tool. If you want a 'beat the snot out
of it' heavy duty multi tool look at the Leatherman Supertool or some
of the Sog line up.

I carry and prefer by a wide margin prefer the Original Super Tool
that I USE & USE & USE all day long. I also prefer the nylon case due
to easy repair and washing ablitity to keep the dirt off my tool. I also
carry a pocketknife for cutting chores or a lockback. A SAK tinker
makes a good companion for any multi tool or a stockman folder.

Good luck in your search .

i have used both the orriginal leatherman and the super tool, and like them both very much, i agree that the blades could use some work, but i also carry a folder of some kind and that combo works well for me. have used it on multile hunting trips, and adventures, and would not be caught whtout it.

while hunting the super tool stays on my belt, the knife and axe and saw are in the pack. the supertool will do everything but i prefer to process game with a knife and axe and saw as needed.

I tend to prefer the LM-Wave. The only time the blades are used is when it's TOO nasty of a job for my current folder.

I have had a few: SOG toolclip, SOG micro toolclip, Leatherman PST, Leatherman Wave, and a Leatherman Micra.

I guess I use the Micra most often because it is on my keychain...it is very handy and the scissors are very nice.

I lost my PST before I could fall in love with it / make an impression...then I bought the Wave.

The Wave is a great tool...I really like the one-hand access of the knife blades. My only gripe is that I wish it was as beefy as the new Supertool 200 seems to be. I have had to send my Wave back for warrany work once already (loose pliers pivot)...and it's only 2 years old.

The SOG MicroTool seemed too small...and out-gunned (design-wise) by the LM Micra...though it did have a light-duty pry bar and a much larger knife blade (make that 2). I have sold this one.

Finally, the SOG toolclip. The reason I keeep this one around is simple...the pry bar. Having this thing shackled to my pack keeps me from reaching for my knives (NOT GOOD) when I need to pry on something.

That's my $0.02
