Here's a ggod one for discussion!
It doesn't matter how many custom knives or high production knives I own I always come back to 3 SAK's!
My favourites are all Victorinox and are
1.The Compact-Great size for EDC and useful tools!
2.The Companion-Like a classic but cooler handles!
3.The Champ-Just the most useful knife ever invented!
Anybody else got any favourites? :)

Hello Adi,

I've been carrying a Victorinox Huntsman since the late 1950's (not the same one - I think this is my third).

I collect Victorinox SAK-s - some 350 in my collection. I do carry others from time to time, but always go back to the Huntsman.

The fairly new leather clip-on pouch from Victorinox seems perfect for this knife.

Cheers - Joe :)

I have a bunch but mostly carry a Huntsman, sometimes a Farmer (stopped carrying a soldier when I got the Farmer), sometimes a Craftsman.

My favorite is the Soldier. It's got tools that I usually need, and I'm a minimalist with my SAKs. I love that the blade is bigger, I love the awl, and most of all, I love the scales. They're very durable, and it's my lone EDC. Also, if you break it/damage it, you're out sentimental value, but nothing of any real monetary worth.

yeah i only like the metal handle SAKs.....

The Soldier is my favorite. It takes care of 99% of the things I cut. That flatground thin blade is a slicing demon, and I love the extra belly it has over the standard SAK's. The awl, bottleopener/flathead, and canopener/phillips are simple tools that get the job done.

When out in the woods the Camper gets pocket time...but I have to say I like my Soldier more, and have been thinking about using a folding saw instead of the Camper.

I'll have to get a Soldier as it seems the most popluar but I use the scissors alot and I am not keen on Wengers.

You could always get the Super Tinker. You wouldn't get the alox handles, but it has the Traveler beat IMO. Instead of a nail file (I'll never buy another SAK with a nail file :D) you get a small blade, you get a sharp awl, a phillips driver instead of a corkscrew, combination can opener/screwdriver tip, And you even get the HOOK! The most useful tool you can have :p

I don't have a favourite SAK (yet) because I have only one so far. I bought an Explorer some days ago in Germany. I wanted a SAK with a phillips screw driver cause it is handy for opening up computers at work. I also plan on buying a Tinker. It's smaller and thinner and I guess I can carry it comfortably in my watch pocket. I'm interested in the Soldier and the Swisschamp too. As you can see: the Explorer was my first but not my last SAK :D . I think a SAK offers very good quality for a (relatively) low price.

It has to be my current EDC SAK, a StayGlow Climber. Imagine the surprise people get when they see a bright yellow SAK. Other than that, the obese Swiss Champ, my Safari, and my Tinker are in rotation. I also have a Tiffany and Co. Classic and 4 other Classics but it's too small for me so I acquired an Executive. I also have a Wenger that's similar to the Victorinox Ranger model. Too many favorites, I guess all of them!

Just in case you didn't know, the flat driver on the can opener works on #1 and #2 phillips screws.

Thanks for letting me know Morgoth412. Yes, I read this on the Victorinox site, but I thought it might not work as well as a real phillips screw driver and that it was some kind of an improvisation. I tested it with the can opener of my Explorer and indeed it works well enough.

You're welcome.

The phillips driver still has it's place though, as their are some sizes the canopener won't work on. Most phillips screws work well with it though.

Some food for thought:

The phillips driver on the Tinker is awkwardly positioned, so it must be used in a T-grip. The phillips that are located in the blade area can be opened at 90 degrees and from there fully open.

Sonny, I almost forgot.I love my 2 explorers as they are just the right size when travelling.I've got one in red and one in black!

Yes, I noticed that. For occassionally opening a computer or something I don't mind too much about the location though. But it's better when the phillips screw driver is located in the blade area when you have to reach a screw in a narrow space.

Sounds good! :) I'll go to Germany again next week (I live very close to the border) and I will definately pick up another SAK. Like I wrote above probably a Tinker. But my eye also fell on a Voyager Lite. Maybe the led light can replace my Led-Lenser and reduce the weight of my EDC a little bit :D.
