Since I have a trade pending on the FBM (for one with Blue G10) I can't chop with it. But here are some size comparisons. The FBM is a hair overall longer, but the Rat Daddy has about 1/4" longer blade.

So the rat daddy blade is a little longer, but the FBM blade is wider, so in the end they are probably really close in overall heft and balance?

No where near same heft.....the FBM is quite noticably heavier and a bit more blade heavy.

GREAT SHOTS Jason!!!

I was wondering about these two in comparison... Congrats on your FBM!

Thanks for sharing!

that rat daddy is stinking up your collection,... you should dump it cheaply.... by the way, did i mention i am in the market for a rat daddy?

how much wider is the FBM blade. I think the Rat Daddy blade is nearly identical to the SHBM in dimensions, so that would mean that the FBM would be about 3/16 wider, which adds considerable weight. Also, there is much more weight in the FBM handle as well. It will be interesting to see how they perform comparatively.

Yah, I like my avatar too.

Is it just me, or does the rat daddy have an almost distal taper that makes the BM far thicker over the last few inches of the blade?

The RD is 1 13/16th inches and the FBM ranges from 2 1/8th at the high points to 2" at the low.
Also the RD has a full flat grind....to account for further weight loss.

Yoda the Corragated Bevels help the FBM thickness out over all but the last 1/2 inch of the tip.

Don't know much about SRKW blades. Is the RatDaddy a current offering? Would be a great user and nice addition to the collection.

The Rat Daddy was special offering, IIRC.. ;)

Size wise, you go Ratweiler, then Ratmastiff, then Rat Daddy as the longest of the bunch..
