FBM and SHBM handle diffs

Confusing ?, but could someone who has both maybe super impose(?) one on the other as to see the diff. dimensionally. I was wondering if material can be removed from a FBM (LE) to even out the top of the handle. Thanks.
 
I do have both, but none in front of me right now. I will say that while your idea is novel, I don't believe it will work. The SHBM is lighter than the FBMLE. There are also differences in balance due to weight differences. The FBMLE also has a fair amount of curvature in the handle. I don't think there is enough steel there vertically to make an FBM handle into a SHBM handle. What's more, even if everything I said was not true (but it is), I think you'd be removing so much metal from an LE that the chances of something going wrong are fairly high. Uneven grinds and destroying the temper are just the begining of the possibilities.

IMHO, you would be light years ahead by finding and buying the real McCoy.
 
there wouldn't be enough in the back of the fusion handle, but you might be able to get close. if you just want to remove that annoying hump on the top of the fusion handle, any number of people could do that. i sent mine to Bill Siegle for a similar mod with a different handle.

As much as I like my measly 2 SH knives (SHSH, SHBM) I really do think the Fusion handle is a work of art in comparison. Takes the front of the SH, a more pronounced hump (notice the SH's have a hump, just subdued) and the rear curve that makes whack-a-stump much better b/c of increased leverage.

If you sand them mag handles (or get a NMFBM), you'll be amazed how comfy a FBM can truly be.

Damn Guys, great answers. If I were to mod her I would smooth out the hump a bit (as stated by silverdragon33 ), removing very little metal. Thanks for the help. Its kickin to be able to ask a ? and then get 10 diff good opinions. Let me not forget Guyon's amazing photos that help with the "visual" overlay. Peace.
