FBM naked

Wondering if any of you guys ever thought about stripping the coating on your FBM user,how to proceed and what's the outcome:pictures please

VTW has stripped a FBM, there's some pics somewhere -- maybe search for threads started by Valleytinworks in this forum...

any decent chem stripper from home depot will take the coating off easily, then lots and lots of sanding...... from 80 grit to 2200...... but its rather easy..... just takes some time
and yess i did... the serations.....
 
awesome,this will be my next project as soon as i can get me a good FBM

Cobalt stripped one of his... and gave it a good beadblasting. He posted a pic of it when he threw it into his SHBM -- I'll try to find that thread. :cool:

VTW: When sanding... Are you sanding from tip to handle (horizontally) or edge to spine (vertically)? I'm guessing the first.

I've not sanded a corrugated knife yet, but on non-corrugated ones I've alternated directions w/each change in grit. You have to do that if you're wanting to get anywhere close to a mirror finish.
