I finally have a way to carry my Big-un. That makes me happy. Mashed Cat sheath, got it from New. Fits great.

Also first "family" pic with the newer SS and sheath.

Good looking sheath! How does it carry with that Teklok?

I made one for my own FBM LE (finally!) and decided to go with a drop-leg style. It is a "Ky-Ply" version that has a removable inner sleeve for cleaning purposes. Of course, it has the adjustable tension, as well.

I present it herewith:

Look at this last picture closely: there are TWO layers at the edges !

A drop leg would get it lower on the belt. Many times with my big knives I just tuck them under the belt. I need to work out a system for that. It does not seem too bad on the belt so far, of course I have not really gone anywhere with it like that yet. I can also attach it to the pack very well with the tech lock (on either side I have ski holders, so it works well).

I've also found that cross-draw carry works very well for the longer blades. The only downside that I've found is I like to carry other gear on that side of the belt and it gets in the way a little bit.

Can you sit down without problems with that Teklok placement?

I was sitting with it earlier. It could be cumbersome depending on the type of chair. The placement of the teklok does put the knife up a bit higher (harder to draw fast, but removes a bit of length for sitting).

It looks like there is enough room for you to drill a hole so you can position the Teklok for cross-draw carry.

Use a #7 bit or a 13/64th's.

How well does the knife go into that kydex with the D-guard the way it is?

I just did one for the wife's Ruck over the weekend, and while I really like the way it turned out, I think it's going to interfere with the blade retention of the kydex sheath when I get one.

I tried to do one for one of my AK's, and the sheath was simply not having it. Going to try to figure out a work-around sometime this week. We have a sword-ball game coming up this coming weekend.

It goes in super easy, and seems to help the retention. I was wondering if I would have to re mold the sheath top to fit my LE, because the handle has been smoothed. There are no more ridges at all, so some material was removed. The forward lanyard and the d-guard seem to help anchor the blade in perfect. (as a side note Grandsuave, Eric from Mashedcat sheaths offered to fit it for me if I had any issues with the sheath if I shipped it to him, which was great customer service, because although it is one of their sheaths, I bought the sheath from another forum member, not directly from Mashed cat, or from the BCS).
