I just received a FBMLE from the company store and its a beauty. However, the semi-swedge area up front is ground noticeably more on one side than the other. When you look down the spine it is really apparent. I was wondering how many others are like this. Should i be concerned? I will try to put some pics up this weekend with the rest of this week's haul.

I'd email Busse's customer support. Very responsive bunch there. For that much money and knife, in my opinion, it should be immaculate.

Another reason Scotch Wiskey should be banned from the knife shop!!!:grumpy::grumpy:

Contact the Shop. Even better, send 'em a pic. My bet is that you'll be taken care of.

Seriously, please let me know when you send it in...

I'll send my custom SHBM in for an even up too.

Well, that happens. I would bet that Busse would fix it for you. On the other hand... I tend to see stuff like this in some form or another in almost every single knife I've ever seen, barring some lucky shots and some very expensive customs. Look closely at your knives, and you'll start noticing slightly or less slightly asymmetric handle scales (one of the scales is slightly longer, thicker or just the ends are rounded differently than the other), blades off the center (yes, this happens a lot in fixed blades, too) of the handle, uneven grinds, and what have you. Fällkniven, Busse, handmade puukkos, Bark River, Spyderco, whatever, they all have a LOT of it. Some are relatively hard to notice. Some are easy to notice, like, I assume, your case. As long as it doesn't affect performance, I don't care that much. Seriously, it might be enlightening to carefully go through some of your knives looking for stuff like this. You'll need a good light in the room, and a sharp eye, but this stuff is there in a LOT of knives. Not in all, but I'd wager that in most.

If it bothers you then send it back. However, Elen has a very good point in that it is much more uncommon to have a "perfect blade" (and ususally much more expensive as well) than it is to have a blade with some minor asymetries. If it is not glaringly apparent upon initial inspection, then I tend not to get in a bunch about it. However, if I opened the box and my first thought was "whoa, that's not right" then that is another matter.

That's exactly the rule I follow. With the kind of eye for small imperfections that I have, I would have to send almost every blade from every manufacturer, and way over half custom makers, back, if I was too picky about these things.

drink 6+ shots of jack daniels! now does it look better? better call the shop and get it fixed! you'll need more alcohol to bide the time till it gets back! the fbmle is the one i need! time to drink!
