FBMLE's with thinned slabs...

I have been working on a collection of Satin/Tigerhide knives, and am slowly adding to it. Problem is that I intend these knives to be users, and have short, stubby fingers. The Mags are just too thick (especially in the middle) for me to use comfortably.

I am hoping that some of you have pics of FBMLE's with thinned tigerhide mags and can post them so I have some idea of which direction to go with my own knife.

I would also appreciate it if you could tell me how you did it; what tools, strats, etc. Thank you.

Here is how I did it. I saw a FBMLE in the Forsale section, which had the handles smoothed, and clip added (by Mr. Bill Siegle). I sent him an email with an offer for trade, sent him something of value, and waited about a week, and bam, there it was.

I didn,t mod a FBM, but I smoothed my Meaner street...

I used a medium/fine file to do this; the finishing was done with coarse wet-dry sandpaper. Clamp the knife on a piece of wood in your vise to have the knife horizontal, and work slowly with your file. When satisfied, finish with sandpaper...Voilà!

It's now my favorite Busse knife...along with my BATAC, and my AD, and my FBM...

Smartass! :D

Heres an idea send it too me and I will send ya a 2008 SE!

You should take him up on that offer!

Save a beautiful FBMLE from certain mutilation and gain a stunning sausage-finger-friendly '08 SE instead!

Oooooh...but the LE fits my little theme so much better.:cool::p

GatMan,
accept the offer, and send it to Knifehunter. Look at '08 SE as a long term investment. She is not the most beautyful one, but she is also not produced in huge# like FBMLE. Most probably 4-5 years from now '08 SE will gain more value than FBMLE. Anyway I would not modify any of those two knifes, instead I would go for FBM CG. When you get sick of it send it to Ban, and he will give her a new life, and raise the value too.
Just an idea.:D
