Fear survival knife

Mine has a linen micarta handle, not the Orange G10 plastic handle. this model with the micarta handle was a special order for some medics going to the desert.

Cool, what are your initial impressions of it, how was the factory edge etc.?

I have seen different sites say this kknife came with a leather or nylon sheat, which one did you get and do you like it?

The edge is good for it's intended purpose, it came with a good nylon sheath with plastic insert. I'm looking for a sheath maker to have a kydex one made with a firesteel attached.

Thanks for the feedback, I have been thinking about this knife for awhile, but haven't had an opportunity to handle one.

Roughly how thick is the blade?

Interesting knife, the handle looks canted relative the the blade which looks very stout for its size. His style of bushcraft must be fairly aggressive to warrent such a profile. It would be interesting to give a guy like that a Mora 2000 and discuss it with him.

Have you checked the "other" forum? KF has had it for a passaround for sometime, maybe about a month or so already. Reviews are favorable.

Yeah after finding this here, I did check and am seeing if it's to later to get into the passaround.

Thanks!

Cliff, what's you overall impression of the Mora 2000?

I have one, but haven't really used it to hard yet, but seems like a decent knife.

it's a nice knife except for that quasi fluorescent orange handle

HAHA...Yeah they take getting used to!

I felt the same way until I got my first BRK&T with blaze orange scales, you sure appreciate them when you drop it in tall weeds or woods.

Nice grip, comfortable, and decently secure for cutting, though no guard so watch heavy thrusting. It is also plastic/rubber, no so hammering with the butt. Steel is not overly hard, expect performance like AUS-8A not ATS-34. Cuts well due to thin blade and acute edge, ease of sharpening is low due to wide edge bevel, but you can just work a secondary edge and recut the primary periodically with an x-coarse hone. Sheath is really low end, retention is low, as is durability, knife will rattle if you shake it, but does have drainage holes and decently secure belt loop. Nice knife for light to medium use bushcraft and general utility. I would prefer a full flat grind though, similar to the Deerhunter, better cutting ability and much greater ease of sharpening. The Mora 2000 does a lot for its price though.

Thanks, that's been my impression of Mora's alltogether. Amazing how much knife you get for the cash, almost makes me wonder about how much I apy for other knives sometimes. Not to much though!

Regarding mora 2000, mine sheath doesn't rattle if I shake it ...like it was said, the knife is really very good value for the money...and the handle is one thing I really like on this knife...great shape
