Feather blades, query?

We all have our favourite blades, and it's entirely individual as only we experience the shave:D

That said, Feathers have been my choice for years, I find them sharp effective and durable.

But....do you think there are counterfeit ones out there? I ask because a batch of 50 I got from the Bay from Thailand just don't seem to be up to the usual standard. I've not changed soap or razors either. Seeing they are more costly than other blades I suppose there could be fakes, any other experiences or thoughts on this ?

I can't seem to find a source directly from Japan either, that might be much more reliable. Feathers seem to be available from US Europe and some Asian venues but not the country of origin. Odd:confused:

Thanks, Will

I've heard there are fake feathers but never had any or know anybody that has. I bought all mine from amazon .

I believe the yellow ones are the us market while the black is Japanese market and the blue is south America IIRC. Don't want to break any rules but if you need links to real ones I'll be more than happy

do they have a batch number? its possible that you got a bunch all from the same batch and something isn't quite right... Not sure about fakes, I think that would be a case of contacting Feather directly with some photos and see what they say.

I use only Feather blades for shaving. And get them from the big river. I've noticed some are not refined and need some stropping in order to give a decent shave. After giving it 40-50 passes on a loaded strop they give a much smoother shave. I've not encountered a counterfeit. DM

I've been using Feather blades exclusively for about five or six years & haven't gotten a bad batch so far. I get mine from The big river too.
