Anybody know where I can get a billet?

I've done a bit of Internet surfing and the only ones I can find are suspiciously inexpensive.

Any insights?

This is a tough one. I'd love to get a piece also, but I know I wouldn't be happy with every piece I've seen. It has to have the right layer count, contrast potential, and flow out of the ricasso to the tip. Only a few people are making it like that and I assume that once they get a nice billet, they would be reluctant to sell it. Still, could be worth contacting the makers of any examples you like. I was lucky enough to obtain a nice piece of cable damascus this year that way...

Salem Straub sells surface ground billets, don't know about patterns but it couldn't hurt to reach out to him about it

I sent him an email about it. I'll let you guys know here, when/if I hear anything!

Yeah I watched the series of videos of him making that billet.
He called it jailbird feather damascus. Really cool process. I have some serious tool envy of his shop, lemme tell ya!

I also watched the full series - WOW!! That is some serious feather Damascus. The way the chains came out is just amazing. Salem has always amazed me with his work. Can you imagine the billets he made to figure just how to make that final pattern come out the way it does?

I'd also be interested in sourcing some feather damascus. When done well, it is my favorite pattern.

Have you tried Vegas Forge? I have a couple of blades in VF dama and they are very nice, but not feather. You may want to google them.
