I thought feather Damascus steel would lend well to my etched designs. Chose eagle theme to go with the ‘feather’ Through word association we say ‘feather’ we follow ‘eagle!’ . I am fooling with stamping tools to stamp designs in the steel while steel is at a temperature it accepts the stamp. For artistic reasons rather than the usual signature trademark stamp. I blended copper in the steel , and with a couple of other blades the copper was sanded off and shows in the stamp design so looks like copper inlays in the steel. Possible interesting effect.

In the above I used a pattern hammer for the first time just ‘blam blam blam’ along the spine while heating it for the harden quench. some brass stays in the stamp for an interesting effect

I tried in the acid etch to make the ‘blams’ look like flowers…(above) hmmm. I did leaves etc, kind of came out with …. Well the steel was in charge not me and took on a look of it’s own. Always a learning process. Someone liked the work, got all these blades sold
