I thought it would be nice to show off some February Finds. I just found these the other day and wanted to share in my excitement.

The one on the far left is an Imperial with pearl celluloid scales. Great walk and talk now after a complete overhaul. The scales are in perfect shape ...so far. The blades slam shut like a bear trap and really took an edge.

In the middle, the mystery knife. The handles are topographical celluloid or something? The blade shape was very interesting and the handle shape is superb in my book. The bolsters scream...old. It was very rusted and took quite a bit of work, but now it walks and talks again. I can make out CURT & CL on the tang, but may be wrong as its so faint. The shield just sings.

The knife on the right is a Schrade #834 in some nice peach seed Delrin :D. It also was quite rusted and has some play in the main blade but cleaned up nicely.

Any help on the middle knife would be appreciated and please show any new ones you've found lately.

Nice knives... especially the stockman is pretty nice! But I also like the celluloid scales... :)

Congratz!

Kind regards
Andi

If that's what you believe is there on the tang then it's Curtin&Clark Cutlery Co. from Kansas City

Thanks Andi. I'm enjoying them.

Thank you very much Boggs!! Now I have someplace to start the research.

OMG!! I found it Boggs - thanks again. I found a picture of an almost identical knife. Looks like they had at least three different tang stamps, but one has the stamp that's on this knife!

I can't post the pics I found ...against the rules.

There is a thread on them here:

From Blues post:
It's (apparently) "Curtin & Clark". They were hardware wholesalers. Goins has them from 1909 to 1920. Levine's Guide from 1890 to 1920.

They operated in both St. Joseph and Kansas City.

They didn't manufacture knives but many were made for them by Tidioute Cutlery (PA).
