This is a real kukri done around 1880-1890. It has an ivory grip covered with lacquered fish skin. The silver 'wire' spells out the owners name: A.C.Lyall. The scabbard was once once covered by a sumptous brocade material.
Last I heard, it was in some Japanese collection. I got the picture from one of its owners in Germany.
I cannot imagine even try to grip this thing and sure it was just for display use.
