Federal Knife Restriction?

Until today I had never heard of this. Does anybody know if it's a legit restriction on knife possession by ex felons? And if so does it apply to state felonies or federal felonies or both?

Is it illegal for a felon to carry a knife?
The only federal knife law is the one outlawing carrying a knife with a blade longer than 4 inches. Otherwise laws pertaining to knives are left up to each state to regulate. ... Carrying even a legal knife can open felons up to deadly weapon charges. If this occurs it is important to contact a lawyer.

There is only one federal law regulating knives - the Switchblade Knife Act of 1958 and an amendment to the act in 2009. Federal knife law only applies those traveling from one to state to another, entering federal property (e.g. a military base), or live in Washington DC.
