I would greatly appreciate to know if anyone knew a fed or KY state law that prohibits the carry of a pocket knife (BM Mini-Grip) by a minor, because I'm 15yo and when I went out yesterday to walk track with my sis, There were some tough-looking guys there that kept following us, and I just didn't feel comfortable w/o my knife. I didn't take it because i thought t might be illegal or somthing, and if anyone can name a law that prohibits it,(or tell me if non exist), i would at least be safe in the fact that i'm only not carrying a knife Because of the law.

BTW, no i don't intend to use my knife as a wep, i just felt so...vulnerable w/o it, and no, i dont carry it at school.

Before anyone else comments, here's a link to Prac Tac. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=680

Lets try not to get this too off topic.

I'm pretty sure there isn't a Fed law about it, otherwise you'd here a lot more about it....

I browsed the laws for KY and didn't see any mention of minors. It says a deadly weapon is "Any knife other than an ordinary pocket knife or hunting knife". I'm pretty sure a Mini=grip would be considered a normal pocket knife. Remember, a cop can take you in for carrying pretty much any kind of knife, if they want to.

Thx very much darth, and thx also for your positive tone! theres to little of that in the world 2day.

For all we know, "ordinary pocket knife" might mean a slipjoint. I can imagine circumstances when an axis lock knife would be considered a gravity knife.

The first law of self-defense is, don't go there. If there are bad guys around, and you don't intend to use the knife on them, what do you mean to do with it?

You might consider finding out if pepper spray is legal carry.

I read a bit further into it, and there was one case where a "normal pocket knife" was considered a "deadly weapon", because it was used a such.

If I were you, I'd fine some nice high-powered pepper-spray, but still carry the mini-grip along. You never know... but don't plan on using it until there is ABSOLUTELY no choice, and believe me, there is very often a choice. '

Good luck.

Absolutely. I doubt you would find any jurisdiction anywhere that use of the most inoffensive object as a weapon wouldn't be considered a crime.

Thx for the replies guys, I just wanted to make sure it was legal for me to carry a knife. And anyway, it was less about my intention to use the knife, and more about the ease of mind, security if you will, of having it, I mean, as far as using it goes, I would get into a fistfight Long before I'd 'cut' someone.

Thx again, I just might look into some pepper spray.
