I finally got to use the 15"/26 Village Penknife and a couple of Sgt. Khadka CAKs... 15"/26 and 16.25"/29. All three did a good job of cutting through old 4-5" tree limbs. Looking forward to a nice backyard campfire this weekend with the grand kids!
The 15" CAK seemed to be balanced and handled better but the 16.25" made chopping a little easier. So the 15" will carry better on hikes but the 16.25 will make chopping easier and it's not that much more in weight...so it will be a tough choice. Wonder how the 18"/30 CAK handles? Will have to put that one on my wish list...but with either one I don't think I can go wrong.
The handle on the Pen needs a little work...corners of the cap seemed to dig into my hand. If the handle was as long as the CAK's then there would be no real issues. A quarter inch longer would probably work too. Will try the belt sander to trim the corners down. I feel this would make great camp/hunting knife. Maybe the 12" would be a better hunting knife? Will have to get the 12" one day.
The CAK's chopped great, like the Pen style and I can't seem to make up my mind which of the three is my favorite. I guess I have to find more wood. Good thing spring is comming!!! This will probably the first year I will look forward to doing yard work!!!
Oh, Yeah!! The Chit, Sir and the Chain are next tools on the work out list.
Thanks Yangdu for a great product.
