I am considering the Knives of Alaska Bush Camp as my one and only fixed blade for hiking and camping. Can owners of this knife provide some thoughts? What do you like and dislike? What are your thoughts on the finger grooves? Thanks all.

I'll chime in since you might not get much feedback on any KOA knife here. I don't have the bush craft, but have the magnum boar hunter knife. Their D2 steel is excellent. It comes very sharp from the factory and really holds a good edge in the field. It's not that difficult to touch up the blade with ceramic rods or similar either. Their Suregrip models are well priced for what you get. The material is nicely checkered and grippy under slimy and wet conditions. Their leather sheaths are thick and tough. The sheaths have a "Western" look to them and smell like freshly tanned leather. The full tang on the Bush Camp makes it a stout knife. If I was looking for another 6" bladed hunting/woods knife, I would strongly consider it. My .02.

Sadly I sold my K.O.A. 'Bush Camp' w/ sheath today on Ebay.
I really liked it despite never taking it out to the field, never field dressing anything as I currently live in a major northeast city
and there isn't any need to field dress anything unless it's a Rat the size of a Cat :D

But the Sure Grip handle felt really great, along with comfortable ergonomics in the design of the handle.
I bought it "pre owned" on Ebay 3 months ago, came re-sharpened to a monster sharp edge.
As 'Planetcat' mentioned, the sheath is definitely "thick and tough" and a very pretty color.... "American split grain cowhide, vegetable tanned and oiled."

Like many of us, I just wasn't using it and need/ed to part with yet another knife taking up space.
I just received a Para Military. 2 after a 4-5 month back order wait ($109.00 total), which will see more use than the K.O.A. 'Bush Camp'.
Another nice thing I liked about the 'Bush Camp', great in a pack.... it was very light even in the sheath, great in a B.O.B.

It has a so called "Hunters non glare" finish on the blade.
I used it in the kitchen a few times cutting Fish.... the second time I think I must have not washed it right away, some lemon juice
droplets remained on the cutting area... and the next day there was some light staining which I lessened by using some Flitz on a rag,
the stains lightened up a bit, but never really disappeared.

I think I paid $91.00 for it and it sold for $88.00.
I see new ones selling for $79.99 lately.

That's my story.
