Upon first inspection, the new Crossbill is fairly interesting. Solid feel & heft thanks to the steel scales, and tight lock-up with excellent fit of blade to lock in open position.

Ergonomics are perfect for my hand, filling my grip without the tapered "slippery" terminal-end found on the Harpy. The blade is slightly larger than is found on the Harpy (but less than the SpyderHawk).

I like the up-down tapped screw holes to allow for my particular carry preference of the pocket clip (although left-right option would have been better-yet).

While 440C hasn't been my choice for steel in many years, we'll see how this knife holds-up to EDC and go from there. I'm not typically a hard-use sort with my knives, so it may not be the torture test some might want, but it still may be of interest...

For the price, this model definitely has potential. I'll report back with some cutting-experience later.

Thanks man, mine is on it's way from NGK. Looks like a bargain. It also seems to be less curved then the harpy and the Spyderhawk, do you think it could also used for piercing?

The blade does have slightly less curve than the Harpy, and especially at the kick-side, where it's ALMOST straight-edged for approx 3/4" or so (right under the opening-hole).

Can you thrust w/this? I guess you COULD if you cant your hand at an angle...(not the strong-point of this style, though). The swedge invites this as an issue, I guess.

Haven't found much to cut yet...still looking....

Okay. I've hacked at that plastic wrap that seems to be a cousin to lexan repeatedly, and opened several bags of water softener salt using the Crossbill so far. The edge is still holding, and that tip (with the swedge) definitley does have penetrating potential (using a "pecking" kind of motion mentioned by Mr. Keating in his Civilian video).

So far, so good. The blade seems able to hold up to some use. Gonna see how long it takes before a touch-up is in order on the blade.

Got mine today, Wow you can't beat the price/quality on this one! haven't cut with it ,and the knife slightly rubs on the handle in the few last fractions of the handles but i am baffled that Spyderco can make and sell this knife, for this kind of money and still make a profit. It is a VERY good knife with 80% of the quality of a Spyderco.

The clip is right hand only but tip up or tip down.

Did you mean the blade rubs on the handle?

Why the heck can't I find this knife at any of my favorite shops? I can't even find it on newgraham. It sounds like a knife I might be interested in.

There are some small circular dragmarks on the base of the blade, near the pivot, meaning that a small part from the handle rubs against the blade, it's just a cosmetical problem and doesn't affect opening, or gives friction. Oh it is Spyderco sharp, cut myself already with it! It was a painless cut, just noticed it when i saw blood, always a good sign of sharpness  Solid heft, great knife!

NGK sell these under the BYRD brand and not Spyderco

Oh, no wonder. I didn't realize this was from their Byrd line.

Thanks for the New Graham link. Just ordered a couple of combo edges (one to carry, and one for the collection). These are great workin' blades for the price!!!
