Hi all, I have been lurking and reading up for some time, and recently ordered a ZT0801. My current edc knife is a crkt Ignitor T. I had been looking for a Titanium frame lock and considered Bradley Alias, CRKT S2, as well as a few others. I know this knife wil be heavier and take up more real estate in pocket and am willing to accept that. I looked at sebenzas, but I think at that price point I'd be hesitant to use one as much. I live in VA Beach, do a lot of work for Special Warfare guys, and wanted something that stands apart from the sea of black knives that tend to be carried and sold here.

As far as usability, I have no concerns about ELMAX. I have read that these knives sometimes suffer from loosening pivots, and should be able to address that. Can anyone recommend a sharpening system that would work well with this knife? I plan to use it daily, and eventually have some anodizing done. Have I missed anything?

I carry one daily. On my edge pro apex it is easy to bring it to a perfect mirror edge. I then use a sharp maker for touch ups. I don't find elmax at all hard to sharpen. And the 0801 is my favorite zt knife currently. The flipping action is ridiculously smooth and fast. It is a fantastic knife. Just be sure you keep you thumb high up on the choil when closing. It closes extremely quick too. Mine bit me twice when I first got it cause I closed it to fast while not showing it the proper respect.

The 801 may be the nicest production knife I've ever handled. It is a tad heavy IMO, but if you don't mind that, it is a great EDC.

I use an inexpensive ceramic rod sharpener for my Elmax blades and it keeps them touched up perfectly fine.

Today I carried my pimped 0801 and my 0801cf. Hands down my favorite production knife. You won't be disappointed.

IMO almost any sharpening system will work. I don't use pull throughs but whatever you use for your other knives should suffice. Shouldn't need anything special. I carry one daily at the moment and I think it may be a while before I find a knife that bumps this one out of my pocket and into a drawer. Not really anything negative I an say about it. Enjoy it

Love it.

I really like my 801. I used it for a while during some remodel work I have been doing and it didn't let me down. The only advise I have is throw some blue lock tight on the pivot when you get it dialed in.

How does it perform in terms of slicing performance?

Not the best slicer but it does the job just fine. I'll admit that it gets a little thick behind the edge, but this isn't a knife you use to slice tomatoes for your sandwich. I've used mine for general EDC just fine, as well as out in the yard.

It's a ZT, after all, with 2 thick slabs of Ti and some of the best looks/action available on a production folder.

I've seen that a lot that the 801 really needs loctite. Mine actually has the most snug fitting pivot screw I have ever come across, almost doesn't need anything and it will stay. Maybe because mine is a low SN, 0363?

Thanks for all of the great replies! Concerning the pivot, I did watch one video on YouTube where locktite failed to correct the issue and Teflon tape was used. Hoping I don't have this issue, but not the end of the world if I do.
