Feel My Pain or How I lost My Knife Collection

Hello all,

I have to get some moral support fellas.
This past year I was in the process of moving so I moved all of my knives and gun gear into storage. In the month I had these items in storage my unit was broken into and practically cleaned out.

The knives I lost were:

2 Camillus Becker BK-7s
A Sterile Becker BK-2
A Camillus Becker CAM1A1 Bayonet
Several John Greco Knives
A Collection of Case XX Cheetahs
Case XX Ruger Knife Collection
as well as many other high end knives that I don't have the heart to list...

I also lost several thousand dollars worth of reloading equipment, ammunition, and gun related items.

If this wasn't bad enough the SOBs stole all of my tools as well. Now I can't even work on guns without saving up for months to buy tools for each task.

These are just material possessions but I'm living on a disability income due to Muscular Dystrophy so funds are always in short supply.

I saves up a couple months back and bought a Ka-Bar BK-7 but it just isn't the same.

If anyone has any sage advice or words of wisdom please do tell. I'm just sick with the whole situation....

Thanks for listening guys,

Dan

Keep a sharp eye on all the local pawn shops and Craigslist bud. Thieves aren't really the brightest.

It's really crappy. I'm sure most of us have fallen victim to the same crap. I know I have, not that bad, but I know the feeling.

Dude, your storage unit should have insurance. If I was paying for monthly storage and my stuff got stolen I would be making the storage unit's owners file a claim. I really hope that is an option for you.

I opened this thinking it would be a story about falling on hard times and having to make sacrifices to get by. This is worse since you didn't have noble intentions which led to the loss. That sucks.

Good luck and wishing the best!

Around where I live, you need an access code to punch in and out so you can open the gate on the lot, and entry/exit is filmed.

That much material couldn't be moved out of the gate by hand, so it was either loaded into another unit, or carried out in a vehicle.
-See if you can have the punch in/out logs pulled and see if anything coincides with the time frame in which the items grew legs...

Please keep us informed.

First off...really sorry about the loss. That's a huge bummer.

Second - pursue your options with the storage company and possibly even your homeowner's insurance. A loss of that value should get the attention of the local LEOs, too.

You can always look them up on the internet to see if they're for sale somewhere.

Also check local pawn shops.

Ask on the general knife discussion forum to see if anyone can help you out with his direct aid.

I hate thieves....... I have been hit over the years several times and it always feels bad.... Even the little stuff..... But to get hit like that...... Gotta suck big time...... As several of us said..... Check the pawn shops and check to see if the storage joint has insurance.......

I hate thieves.....

That just plain sucks....I have been a victim of theft before and it is very troubling. storage place should hopefully be aggressive and helpful to the cops to figure this out, as thier rep is on the line as a safe place to store

Thanks for the good will wishes guys. This story just gets worse as it goes. I'm unable to get any insurance settlement through the storage facility as they went out of business not long after thus happened.

I'll give you three guesses why the business failed. Too much theft and I wonder if the owners weren't somehow involved. Locks were cut cleanly without much mess left behind.

I always go out of my way to help anyone I can. Even though I have Muscular Dystrophy and lost the ability to walk a couple years ago I still feel blessed.

Drug addiction has run rampant here and I'm sure in one way or another drugs guided this incident.

It wouldn't hurt so bad but I've lived on an annual income of less that $9000 so when I lost over 40 thousand bucks worth of possessions I knew I would never get it back.

I'm not bitter, just disappointed. My hobbies keep me sane :)

Take care fellas and keep sharing, I appreciate every one you write...
