Well I'm forty today, hardly seems like I could be entering my fifth decade now, however with age comes wisdom and dignity and I can look back at the past and say...HEY! WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE PAST DECADE??? I HAVEN'T MADE AS MANY KNIVES AS I THOUGHT I WOULD. WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE, IS THIS THE START OF A MID-LIFE CRISIS??

Ahh, that felt good, I always wondered what a mid-life crisis would be like!:D Now thats over things can go back to normal. I'll leave you with this thought though, if there is anything you really want to do in your life, DON'T put it off. Start working towards it today! I wish I had started making knives 20 years ago rather than three years ago. Back when I was twenty it seemed like there would be time for everything. Well the expression "time flies" doesn't hold a candle to reality.

Everybody have a good day!

In the words of Bilbo Baggins on his 111 birthday, "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve!" :D

I know what you mean! I hit the double nickels this year & the aches & pains are starting; I'm getting slower; & time is moving faster! Don't let any 'moss' grow under your feet!:D Have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I can identify,I turned 40 last week. What's keeping me going is all the things I want to accomplish and the good times yet to come. I'm glad I'm where I am; with a few exceptions but that's life. Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Big Guy, have a good one!

But I gotta tell you, 40 isn't old - for a tree...

Dave

happy birthday

My friend is 81 we still swing a 6 ponder together. He recons he is getting a bit old for the 10 pounder. Making knives is keeping him fit and health. He draw file most of his work and just finishes off on the belt sander. I'm 43.

Stay happy if your not forgeing it may be time to start.

Howdy There...!
Happy Birthday...!! Oh to be Forty again...turn fifty five next year and looking forward to greatly. Had a bad heart attack and five bypasses done. I am damn glad to see the sun any morning. I love making knives and just getting up every morning. Life is great, so hang in there, it gets better.

Later "Possum"

Older age only means, bigger glasses, longer thought, lighter hammers, and milder expectations. The result is often pleasant surprise. Of course, it also means regular trips to the bathroom (54). Terry

Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!:p
You ain't old just starting to live.I am past that one but it sure made me think about time like you have.I have looked back at all the crazy stuff I did when I was younger and wouldn't change nothing.
Go have a beer for all us and have a great Day.

Silent,

You think 40 is bad, wait until you hit 50. When they always told me hair and memory was the first to go that was a big lie, I wish they would have been the first to go. Seems like there isn't anything fun to do anymore but make knives,:D if you know what I mean. If you don't you will soon enough, and that "your as young as you feel crap" well thats all that is, is crap. I can get up feeling like 30 and by the time I make it to the bathroom I feel like s----- again.:D O and when the biggest thrill of your life that has come along in years is when you findly get that hydraulic press made, not so you can make damascus but so you can actually crush a beer can again.
No seriously, take care of yourself, the best years are yet to come, and you'll know when they get here. When your driving 30 mph in a 70 mph zone because everything seems to be moving so fast, and everyone honks and waves howdy to you with they're middle finger. You'll know you've made it. :D :D :D

Happy Birthday,

Bill
I hope you know I am kidding, life is grand, enjoy it.

Guy, Happy Happy Birthday!!

I started making knives at your age too. I still havent had my mid-life crisis. I cant wait until I do because I will get a new sporty car and a whole new wardrobe with flashy shirts that show off my graying chest hair.

Thanks for the kind wishes everyone! This forum family is the best! I'll have some pics of my work up here in the near future. I haven't been nearly as prolific this past year as I ahd hoped but I've got lots in the works. Thanks again!:D
