Well, I finally know what that means now. I was definetly feeling the groove tonight when I was grinding. The lines were coming very nice one one side, but I was having some trouble on the other side, but I got it worked out pretty good now. I have a spear point done (the elephant) complete with leather sheath (which is pretty funny as it is my first) and filework on the spine. I like it, but I wish the heat treat was better. A local welder/machinist did it for me, but I don't think it's hard enough. Also, it's 3/16 0-1 stock, so the knife and edge itself is pretty thick. My second blade, a 4" drop point and third blade, 4" hawkbill or warncliff, i'm not sure which it really is, will be heat treated this weds by the machinist. I will see if we can get it hotter and hold it there for a bit, I don't think it got hot enough last time. We only went to a straw color, not a red hot and I don't know if it ever got to nonmagnetic. I will probably move to A-2 in the next few weeks because more people can heat treat it and there are several Heat treating places in CT that might be able to do it for me. If not, there is always Paul Bos! I am still looking for 1x30 36 grit belts, preferably ceramic or something that will last longer than AO on heavy hogging of metal. I will try to see if some of my friends have scanners so I can get some pics up!
