Hey guys! Years ago when I first joined here I was really into slipjoints. That’s what started my addiction. For years I collected vintage slips, new production things, eBay finds forum finds flea market finds you name it. Then for some years I switched entirely to modern production knives…. I still like them, but have sold all of my fancy flippers and some nice few remain. Since last year I’ve been somewhat burnt.
then, like always, I found a new spark! I’ve come to enjoy slipjoints again. It’s come full circle. A great buddy of mine sent me some great pieces he’s gotten from me over the years, plus one of his own. A Keen Kutter two blade jack in jigged bone, a walnut covered Case TL29, a gorgeous cocobolo GEC lockback, and a Case one armed Barlow! I couldn’t be happier. I also tracked down an old smooth bone Russell jack that I had sold years ago. Here they are:
And I’m looking for two more, these are ones I sold years ago during financial hardships, if anyone knows where they are please let me know! One is a large Waterville ebony jack with two main blades with lots of patina on them, and really strong walk and talk. The other is a 2009 BFC Barlow by Queen with the fattest stag I’ve seen. I’d love to have these beauties back!!
I’m excited to see what knives have come out in recent years! I’ve been away. Someone give me a brief highlight reel of some other cool stuff I can hunt down. I have a Robeson easy open coming from the bay!
