I'm trying to decide whether to order a Fehrman Cold Fury in black crinkle coat or the cermic coated satin finish. Which coating is more durable (protects better). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey J.

I have the black coating on one of my FJ, Its held up great through ALOT of use.
The ceramic coating im sure will hold up great, plus if you like the new satin finish that Fehrman does by hand now, you will get the ceramic coating so no more worries about rust/corrosion, so you will get the best of both worlds :D

I have a Fehrman FJ in the old sating finish that has held up great,I just make sure I put a light coat of oil when done using, havent had a rust problem.
I also have a Last Chance with a custom satin finish but NO ceramic coating and again havent had a problem,I did have a couple of rust spots on the handle but they buffed right out with ease with a strop with compound. This came from ALOT of hours cleaning fish and swiming/crossing across slow waters and forgetting to wipe down around the handle when finished, which was my fault for not paying attention to detail when cleaning my knife.

It basically is something that you will need to decide, meaning which one you like the looks of best.

Hope that helps :D
