Okay, I didn't abuse it, but I did kinda' beat it like red-headed step child! Went camping this weekend and decided to put my Fehrmn through the paces. First up, some Meat cutting. We had a ham (this is at a cabin), so I cleaned and used my FJ to slice it. It did quite a commendable job considering it's thickness. For s&g's I chopped it into the bone (not full force, but hard enough to get it to stick). I went with the "grain" of the bone, and the FJ stuck into it about an inch. I than stabbed the bone. While it wouldn't stay in by itself, it made a good sized hole. Through all of this there was no visible damage to the tip or blade. Okay, time to go outside. I stabbed the tip about 2 inches into the top of an old metal barrell. Once again, no problem. I then stuck the tip into a piece of 2x4 hard, and snapped it out sideways. No damage or bending, just ripped up wood. I decided to chop down some limbs on a birch tree that wasn't looking too healthy. I chopped through 3 branches that ranged from 2-3 inches thick. Once again, no problem. I have small hands, and the FJ has a fairly large handle (personally, I would trim the handle width a wee bit), but my hand never became uncomfortable. After a good cleaning and a rem-oil rubdown, the knife was still looking pretty nice. It still had a pretty good edge on it. When I get my 3 sided Hewlette sharpening rod I'll toch it up. So far, this blade is living up to what it is supposed to be: a fierce tool you can bet your life on!
