Hey guys I`m new here. So straight to the point. I have been looking lately to get me a survival/camp knife in case I get lost while hiking or camping. I have been doing a LOT of research online and I have narrowed it down to Busse or Fehrman. I really like Busse form all the stuff I`ve read online and seen on Youtube, but I do not like the fact that you have to wait a long time and they only offer a model for a certain length of time. So, I have really been looking at Fehrman, BUT I cannot find any testing videos or reviews.!! Does anybody out there have experience with Fehrman knives and pics they could email me. The knife I`m particularly interested in is the Extreme Judgement. Thanks. BTW I`ve read the other links on blade forums, they don` really tell me shit, besides that French guy that had some pics.

go down a little on the testing section & you will see a post by kdstrick. this is all you need to know about ferhman kd is personal friend of mine & has about 25 busses. he gives a definitive story on the ferhman quality. i got the final judgment 5 days ago & will chop down a mesquite tree this weekend. however kd has ddone more big knife testing than i'll do the rest of my life.

With respect to the wait time for a Busse, I just got a Bushwhacker Mistress and it only took two weeks from order to delivery. Not that bad in my opinion. I don't own any Fehrman knives, but I've heard great things. I can tell you the BWM is a nice piece, but having just received it I haven't put her to work yet. I think there are plenty of positive reviews on the Busse Forum but I'm guessing you can't go wrong with either. Good luck with your choice.

as an extra note, ferhman was selected to make the knife for stallones latest movie. you guys know how this affects custom makers, i'm afraid ferhmans delivery time may increase to much longer than 25 days. i'm glad i got my final judgment last week. those movie knives are certainly sensational but hardly what experienced users desire.

Both Busse and Fehrman will do quite well for what you are looking for. INFI is very renowned for it's toughness and all around qualities. It's good at most things, with no real weaknesses. CPM 3V that Fehrman uses I would have the same comments. Very, very tough, with excellent edge holding. 3V might be slightly less "stain less" than INFI, but I live in Colorado where rust just isn't an issue. If you take care of your knives, it shouldn't be an issue at all.

Either way, you'll be fine. I've got a First Strike, Peacemaker, and Thru Hiker. Love them all. Same for my Busses.

You have great taste Mr. Picard! Here is the link Dennis pointed out.

I own both and have absolutely beat the hell out of them both, and can tell you that you will not go wrong by purchasing either knife. They are both tough as hell and will do anything you want to do with a knife.

Eliminate the issue... buy both. That's how I roll. ;)

Here is a link to the Busse site: http://www.bussecombat.com/knives/index.shtml

In my experience, Busse ships very fast...

Either way, you will not regret your decision. They are both great companies and you will love your new knife. Both companies hold fantastic warranties to provide you worry free use/abuse.

I've owned both brands.

Buy the knife you want, regardless of brand.

The design is what you are after. Sounds like you have a good idea of what you are looking for.

I've got a First Strike from the early days of Fehrman. Very few knives have pleased me as well as this one has.

I cant comment on the newest generation, I dont have one, I cant get past the funky clip point, but thats just aesthetics. If the new ones perform as well as mine, then you ought to be a happy camper.

I have one of the early Hood Hunters and so far that's my only large Fehrman.
It's a great and unique knife.
I've been looking for another Fehrman. Not that i need it. The HH is superb and will likely last forever. But they're like Busses, they're just so good you want more.

At this level of performance, at least in ordinary use, the difference between Fehrman and Busse is more about your personal preferences on the particular model than any real difference in quality. Except for corrosion maybe, 3V and infi are very close. In terms of the companies, both Busse and Fehrman have ardent fans.
And deserevedly so.

TESTS ON FEHRMAN KNIVES , as i know it was done by a banned man long long ago here ,the result on Fehrman knife is not optimstic though, you can find out , i think
cause i am just a registered , i can not help you .

another test on Ferham i can find :http://survival.com/html/hood_hunter.html

Thanks guys, will probably go with the Fehrman Extreme Judgement just cause of the ergonomics and the looks, but I still have not ordered one. Thanks again.
