I am still looking to get a new camp/hiking/hunting knife. I think i've narrowed it down to these two different knives. I think both have bomb shell warranties, and are both very solid knives. I know the last chance is bigger than the bravo-1. The steels are both tool steels A2 vs CPM3v. What do you guys recommend?

Had the Bravo-1 and sold it off. I'd get the Fehrman. A2 versus CPM3V isn't even a fair fight.

Not much to that decision for me... can't legally conceal the Fehrman in my state. And a knife like that isn't any good if you don't have it with you. ;)

I might pick up a Fehrman anyway, just to have one.

The Bravo 1 is ok for a hiking knife or small game hunting knife, or as a second blade to complement a larger one, but I would go with something a little larger like the LC for the all-around use you seem to be after. It has a taller blade height, is slightly thicker, and about 1-1/2" longer. I actually JUST ordered a satin LC yesterday, so I haven't had it in hand yet and can't really speak to use, feel, etc. I have a Bravo 1, which I could sing praises to all day long, but just based on what I've seen and read, I think the Fehrman would be the one for you to choose.

I have the Last Chance piggy backed with the Peace Maker and can honestly say there is no better pair for outdoor use, period. The feel in the hand, overall use, ability to handle severe wear and tear, are just extraordinary.

I have several BRKT (Canadian Special, Drop Point Hunter, Ultra Light Bushcraft, Mini Canadian) and can honestly say they also are excellent knives with excellent steels also capable of handling anything you throw at them (the Canadian Special especially) but not for an extended period of time without edge maintenance.

Again, no big deal, but the Fehrmans were designed to be used this way for extended periods of time without even having to touch the edge for a very, very long time which I don't believe the BRKT 's were designed to get into this kind of territory until you get into the larger "muscle" knives in their line like the Bravo-1 and the Hudson bay Camp Knife, amongst others. All of the BRKT knives are extraordinary in their own right so a lot of consideration must given to preference, use, feel, "sharpenability" for that individual, are you planning to carry an Axe or machete, etc.

I have representative knives of both Companies and know they both rock so look carefully at your choices. Honestly evaluate your ability to sharpen/maintain their knives (A2 vs. 3V). How are you going to use the knives, etc.

Hope I've helped.
