Now that I have my chopper in order, I feel like something alittle smaller. I have narrowed it down to 2 knives and was looking for opinions on which to buy.

Here are the basic specs of each:

Fehrman Peacemaker:
Blade Size : 4" x 1.25" x .19"
Overall Length : 8.5"
Steel : CPM-3V
Hardness : 57-59 Rc
Handle : Linen Micarta
Standard Cost : $ 180

Fallkniven TK1
Blade Size : 4"
Overall Length : 8.4"
Steel : 3G (laminated SGPS)
Hardness : 62
Handle : Ivory Micarta
Standard Cost : $300

The Fallkniven is the one I am leaning towards, but I am wondering if the hardness of it might make it unsuitable for wood. The is going to be a general utility knife, that will probably see wood, flesh, fish, rope, and whatever else a general utility knife is good for. I am not concerned with cost, so the pricetag is not at all an influencing factor.

They are both great knives, but I would like some input if ya got it.

Thanks

i personally would choose a fehrman over a falkniven any day but ii cant say that i have handled either. fehrmans have a reputation for being rock solid

I like the Fehrman better. If you talk to Chris, he might have an extra that he can sell you.

If price is not a deciding factor my vote goes with the Fallkniven TK1.

I have no experience with Fehrman, so I can't compare, but I own several Fallkniven's and they too are rock solid knives.

I have both a TK5 and TK6 neither of which is a "use" knife but they sure are sweet. I do however have an A1 as a camp knife, an F2 in my tackle box, a P3G as my EDC, and U2's in the glove box of every vehicle.

As I said I'm not familiar with Fehrman so I can't say whether or not the Fallkniven's are actually a better knife in my opinion, I am saying, based on my experience, that Fallkniven's are an excellent knife and I give them two thumbs up :thumbup:

On my edge retention tests Fallkniven 3G got 23rd place and Fehrman CPM 3V got 13 from 27 knives testsed.
Also it is productio knife vs semi-custom, Japan made vs US made...

Thanks, Vassili

I have both of these knives. Both can be used in much the same ways.

Biggest difference is the difference between the steels used and the edge bevels applied. The TK1 has a convexed edge stainless steel blade while the Peacemaker is flat ground carbon. Both excellent knives, steels, f&f. They both have excellent sheaths as well. The TK1 has been as well abused as the Peacemaker but neither show it. They both hold an edge seemingly forever.

Both are very much worth every dime you spend for them and then some ... You will not regret buying either one. Biggest difference I've noticed is that the TK1 is a better carver/whittler if your into making spoons and bushcrafty kind of things because of the convex edge, lol. And of course, the TK1 looks nicer if your more into the looks.

If you'd like more info or photo's let me know. I'd love to help any way I can.

Be safe.
