Fehrman makes some great knives. The Peacemaker would serve you well.

Absolutely, the Peace Maker would be perfect for what you want. I have one as well as 3 other models of the Fehrman line and it will be hard to beat them. Once you have the Peace Maker in your hands you won't want to put it down until you find something else to cut

It is relatevely heavy as any knives of this style, it is more like camp knife. Check RosArms knives - Edelveis with birch bark handle, or Buck Vanguard Alascan Guide from Cabelas, or Helle Brakar - I think they will be more suitable as hunters.
