Fehrman Shadow Scout q's

I am going to buy a Fehrman if I can sneak it past my wife here soon. I like the First Strike but its a but too much money for me. My next choice is the Shadow Scout, but Fehrmans site says that it is a thinner blade. I baton, dig, chop, and hack with my fixed blades, and my Kabar has sufficed so far. If I use and abuse the crap out of the Shadow Scout, will it risk being broken?
 
If you haven't broken your Ka-Bar yet, you have nothing to worry about.

Fehrmans 3V is extremely tough.
 
Try sneaking a Battle Mistress past your wife. :D Mine doesn't even ask anymore as I scurry into my office with my loot. Small, med, large boxes. That said:

First Strike is rather heavy and bulky to have it carried around, but you will have even harder time to break it as the knife is just as solid as a Busse. Fehrmans are among the best knives you can buy.

Have no fear with your 3/16 Fehrman. See the chart below. Fehrman's CPM-3V is more than double the strength and wear resistance of A2 steel. A2 is a fantastic steel, that most folks consider far superior to the 1095 that kabar uses. Just ask the Bark River guys how they feel about their A2. ;)

In short, you are going from a Pinto to a Rolls Royce in steel performance. Heat treatment is everything, and Fehrman does it right. :thumbup:

The shadow scout is a great knife, very versitile and easy to carry. Its a solid blade, so no worries about breaking it.
