Like many, I didn’t care for the handle shape of the Thru Hiker.
I cord wrapped it at first, but it still wasn’t very comfortable for woodcrafting. Plus, paracord absorbs a lot of fluids, like blood, and starts to stink after a while.
I put some ESEE Izula scales on it. They covered the rear portion of the handle and were better than the cord wrap had been, but I felt I still needed more.
So, I stole the scales off an old RAT 3 and took a Dremel to them.
A little epoxy filled in the bottom section and secured the dummy middle screws.
The stock kydex sheath was trimmed to fit the new handles. It still snaps in tight.
The knife is now very comfortable. I had been using it as a piggyback blade on my Fehrman FJ and will continue to do so. It’s a great 3V utility blade now. I call it the the Li’l Beast.
