just wondering, but is the curve in the xtreme judgement's blade so pronounced that I will have to buy the rounded stones for the system? The straight stones seem to get a good workin edge but not a hair poppin' razor edge.

Well, I've sharpened a Furi 5" East/West knife that isn't quite that extreme, but it appears it'll sharpen up without issue (I'm still working on it).

I've had the WEPS for a week now and I've found that it really isn't necessary to do the entire blade length in one continous motion. You can do several shorter sections of the blade with each stroke of the stone. This is particularly important toward the tip of the blade or you get very long scratches nearly parallel to the edge instead of short scratches more perpendicular to the edge.

I only have up to the 600 grit stones, the 800/1000 is backordered, and I didn't get strops yet either. You can get hair-popping edges with a very light touch, but finer stones would make it easier I think. Somebody with more experience can chime in if they will.

The straight stones are fine for that knife. The curved ones are really for inside curves with very tight radii. What are the finest stones you have? Also, what angle did you choose? depending on how long you've had your sharpener, the stones may not be fully broken in yet. My 600 grit stones put a very shiny refined edge, but I've used the heck out them. Bimjo's suggestion about using light pressure when you're finishing the edge is right on target.

I just have the stones that the WE came w/. I own a karambit so I'll probably end up ordering the curved stones anyway, but just wanted to know if they straight ones would sharp or (ruin) a curve as alight as that on a fehrman xtreme. Also, the only angle I've used so far is the 20 degree, b/c I've only sharpened a few blades as I haven't had the WE that long (waited FOREVER for it)... Is there a certain angle you recomend?
