Not sure if this is the proper forum, please re-direct me if I am posting incorrectly.

I am a huge fan of Brian Fellhoelter’s pens. The majority of my collection is the 5.5”. I have 2 G2’s (zirconium/titanium) that are machined beautifully, but the G2 cartridge sucks! Bleeds all over the place, uneven script, etc…

Are there any fixes out there to purchase in order to use a professional (not g2) cartridge with these pens?

Many thanks

In many pens, pilot v5/v7 refills fit. But they are rollerball and will bleed in wet instances like the pilot g2’s. I know of no space penish refills that fit Pilot g2 sized fills.

Thx! The G2 ink is a major fail in a $200-600 pen. Trying to see if there are 3rd party attachments or solutions to using a proper refill here. Feel like a fool for buying these expensive pens that only use a cheap pilot g2😖

$200?? Damn the price must have gone up since I bought them.

I have a couple Nottingham pens, different mechanism but same idea. I have just about switch to the shorter version using Parker style refills. I especially like the montverde ceramic gel broad refills. With 1 pen, I can switch from those gel to the Schmidt easy flow 9000 in one pen.

Ok, so by "Pilot G2" you do mean the G2 Mini refill, right? I know some Fellhoelter pens use the Mini, but I'm unaware of any that use the full size G2. He also makes ones that use a Parker G2, but that's apparently not what you mean.

Unfortunately, as you've found out, you are very limited to what you can do.

Most bolt pens can swap pretty easily between the full size Pilot G2 and similar plastic gel pens like the Pentel Energel, Sharpie Gel, Uni Signo, etc, with little or no modification (or spring swapping). One rather crappy option is to use a gel pen of your choice until the ink is low enough that you can trim it to the length of the G2 Mini. I'm partial to the Energel needle points myself.

A better option is this:

It's the adapter recommended by Tactile Turn for their mini pens.

I haven't used the adapter myself since I haven't purchased a pen that uses the G2 Mini, but I have used a number of D1 refills. The D1 is the standard used in multi-pens, and fortunately there's a pretty wide variety of different refills available. I've tried several, but not nearly all. The Ohto needle points are mediocre, but I do like needle points. They write smoothly and evenly, but slowly. The Schmidt Easy Flow are globby gloopy garbage. The Monteverde Soft aren't as bad as the Schmidt, but they're not great either. The Zebra gels are excellent. The Uni Jetstreams write the best. And finally, the Fisher "Universal" refill is a D1 size when you break off the extension bits. Writes like other Space Pen refills, which could be good or bad or simply adequate-but-universally-useful.

The D1's obvious drawback is the small ink reservoir, but it's not like it's going to be much worse (possibly better) than the G2 Mini's gel. I found that the 0.4 Zebra gel and the 0.5 Uni Jetstream actually last quite a while if all you're using it for is notes or signatures and whatnot. The Jetstream in particular will make your $500 pen write like it's a $500 pen.

Ahh i forgot that the ti bolt is mini g2.

You say the easy flow is globby goopy garbage but I’ve used a few and never found them that way. I find them quite smooth feeli my and glowing. I am not a fan of the zebra at all. Guess everyone has to find their favorite lol. But I don’t know what will fit in a mini g2 sized pen so as to try other styles. I will say that I find rhe v5/7 refills to leak out when stored tip down like in click or bolt pens. I love the way they write (yes I prefer gel, etc, and actually use a Karas fountain pen more than any other) but hate having to clean my Nottingham every time I pull it out cause it sat tip down for 3 days.

While my experience with the Schmitdt Easy Flow 9000 has been equally poor, I do need to emphasize that I was talking about the D1 size (Easy Flow 6000). Maybe it's the environment, the paper, bad luck, or other factors, but they almost never write immediately and require some scribbling to get the ink flowing, and they glob horribly. I bought a 5 or 6 pack of the D1 6000s and every one of them sucked.

The Zebra I'm referring to are also D1 gel, not the same thing as the Sansa or other full-size Zebras, and definitely not the junk that come in the F-401/F-701. If Zebra makes a Parker G2 style, I haven't tried it.

Ahh yes I’ve never used the d1 anything. I only used the 9000 and they are by far the best ball point I’ve ever used. Never have the problem you say. Same with zebra. I’ve only used the 401/701 (I agree) junk.

Great advice, thanks to all. I just received a TiBolt Deluxe (5.5”) from Knifecenter that accepts Schmidt/Parker/Fisher…no mini G-2 refills here. I am going to try out the solutions mentioned for my “Wilson” and zirconium TiBolt G2s. Will update everyone in a couple of weeks!
Btw, for those of you that are fans of Tactile Turn pens, check out the knives that they are now producing. I purchased a Rockwall (Magnacut/Ti) and the fit and finish is exceptional. Perfect, unobtrusive office carry.

Enjoy your weekends!

Per the above post regarding the new Fellhoelter…This was one of the Blade Show displays available at Knife Center.D98C0C19-9E77-4C9B-B6F4-88DA57C6801F.jpeg
