I was wondering if anyone uses felt buffing wheels and what there opinions are regarding there use...Thanks....

My experience with felt is that the wheels tend to glaze over very quickly. Glazing is that shiny surface on the wheel and it carries little if any polishing compound. Polishing compound does the work not the buffing wheel.

The very hard ones (called rock hard in the felt industry) are good for shaping to cut into hard to reach corners but the cardboard sharpening wheels do the same job.

I use a medium hard felt wheel as the last step in sharpening, I make a couple of light passes, first to take off the wire edge, then to lightly polish he edge.I use green rouge on the wheel for this.

I bought the cardboard wheel from a supplier in NY State, apparently they are the supplier for Scrade and Case, can't recall the name right now. I believe K&G or Jantz supply these wheels as well.
