I got this belt, wanted to see if anyone has any use experience with this or similar. It’s a 4 mm thick felt belt.

“Polishing belt made of natural felt on a solid base for cleaning and
polishing surfaces using abrasive and polishing pastes. Felt belts are
used for polishing wood, plastic and metal products”

I tried it on this Elmax blade with no compound or paste. Want to check before is start using some compound

Thanks

I have them. I tried one with rather heavy cut compound but I prefer cork belts with grit + compound for finishing. I think they may be nice for final polishing after high grits, with the right compound. I don't think they'll do much without compound.

I've tried multiples of these with different compounds, and don't use them much. The only thing I use them for now on is if I need to polish a small radius (finger choil) with a small wheel on my grinder.
If you are going to try it on Elmax, listen very closely, you will be able to hear the steel laughing at you. 😁

Needs the right combination of compound.
Some compounds work better with cloth belts.
