As an EDC / defensive light, which would you prefer? I have no experience with either one. They're both the same price (around $35). A brief run-down of specs...

Length: E20- 6". Monarch- 6"
Power Source: E20- Two AA batteries. Monarch- Two AA batteries.
Run Time: E20- 3.3 hours (NiMh). Monarch- 1 hour (alkaline).
Brightness: E20- 109 lumens. Monarch- 100 lumens.
LED: E20- Cree 7090 XR-E LED. Monarch- 3W LED (unspecified manufacturer).

Anybody have one (or both) and can comment on it? I'm mainly looking to either compliment or replace my Inova X2 (85 lumens).

I recently got Fenix L2t V2 Q2. Very good torch. I would invest that 15-18 bucks more for that. E20 is somewhat cheap feeling to it comparing to L2T V2 which is around 152 lumens max with 2xAA. With Ni-Mh 3,2 Hours at max 152 lumens and at low 16 lumens for 32 hours. And both modes are fully regulated so you get near full brightness even when batteries are nearly depleted.

But I probably take E20 if you're on budget. Its zoom intends to make bit excessive spill but its good torch.

Fenix all day brother :)

My buddy got an LD20 (same as E20 with more modes) and it is absolutely fantastic. I'm probably going to replace my Surefire L4 with an LD20 as my edc light after I get my AR :)
