I see they have the option of textured or not on their lights. What is the difference in the light output?

output is the same what is driffent is the beam, smooth you get more throw & the beam goes farther and has some rings in the beam you can only tell if you shine it at the wall when in use out doors you can't tell.textured It doesn't throw as far but you get a very smooth beam,it comes down to what you perfer.I say get one of each then go from there.go to (cpf)you can see all kinds of light reviews with beem pics.
hope this helps

i think the texture is just the body

no light power differnce,,,

They offer the option of an Orange Peel texture on the reflector of the flashlight, or smooth like a standard reflector.

I got my TK11 with a smooth lens for further light throw, and my smaller lights like the PD20 textured for a more even beam.

Textured reflectors reduce the number of shadows you see in the beam when it's projected--meaning those MagLite-style rings that show up in your flashlight beam.

Anyway, I don't know all that much about it, but there's a noticeable difference.

i thought the op was refering too the main body texture,,,the fenix L2D is the plain version and the L2D 2.0 has the textured body ,,

I just bought myself the Fenix TK10 - with the textured reflector - for Christmas (ho ho ho!). It has an amazing throw.

My view is that if the distance of throw is your critical feature, then get the smooth reflectored TK11, but if you want a more even light, then get the TK10.

I use my light both outdoors camping, outdoors while walking from our house to our barn trying to avoid dog "treats" - the smooth beam is real important for that, and indoors - where the smooth beam rocks.

Here are some beam comparisons:

I have always felt that the textured reflector evens out the beam a good amount without sacrificing a ton of throw. However, I have never had BOTH smooth and textured in a light. It is a minor difference and I think Fenix is crazy for offering both but whenever given the choice I usually choose textured for a smoother beam and softer edges around the hotspot.
