I'm thinking of upgrading my 3AA Dorcy Heavy Metal light. My current thought is to buy the Fenix L2DCE-Q5 and the empty body of the L1D from Lighthound for a total of ~$75 shipped. (Actually, it's $72 but if I buy a $3 accessory, too, it makes it to the FREE SHIPPING level). Is there a better 1 to 2 AA light for the money or a better place to buy this combination?

Fenix Store offers free shipping. Google them up.

I checked their site but I don't see them offering a body tube (without tailcap and head) for sale. Lighthound offers the tube alone for $12 while FenixStore offers the tube with tail for $25.

I also have a Fenix L2D Q5 and love it. :)

2AA and puts out almost 200 lumens, has 6 modes and is very durable. Hard to beat in my opinion. You may find a better 2AA but I would probably cost a lot more.

the other very good option is the Nitecore D10 and upcoming D20 sold at 4sevens.com. It is run by the same great guy who runs Fenix Store. You won't be able to switch between 1 or 2 batteries as far as I know (educated speculation) but IMHO quality is a little better than Fenix and nicer features. There is a YouTube video that demonstrates it.
